On August 1, 1940, Xinxian Town, Cang County, Hebei Province beat gongs and drums, which was very lively. The Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade held a grand team building ceremony here, and nearly a thousand people from several nearby villages and towns gathered here. The team members were very motivated and loudly promoted the anti-Japanese national unification policy.
They shouted: "Job joining the army is glorious, to fight against Japanese invaders, and to defend their country." The people present cheered in unison, and some led their sons to come forward and said: "My son joins you to work hard for the fight against Japan." Someone recommended himself: "I am strong and have practiced martial arts, and I want to join the army."
This activity not only expanded the influence of the anti-Japanese and national salvation movement, but also boosted people's fighting spirit in the fight against Japan, but also strengthened the anti-Japanese team. The Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade was called "our Huimin Team" by the masses. How did it be established and developed? What role did it play in the War of Resistance?
In the spring of 1940, the Cangzhou Prefectural Committee drew out the Hui soldiers from the Jinnan Guerrilla Detachment and the Cang County Brigade, and formed a 20-person Hui Muslim anti-Japanese and national rescue armed forces. This Hui Muslim anti-Japanese armed forces are all locals in Cangzhou area and are familiar with the local situation. Later, some soldiers promoted anti-Japanese and saving the country while returning to their hometowns to visit relatives, so more than 20 people followed these soldiers to join the army, and the number increased to 40.
In July 1940, the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade of Cangzhou Military Sub-district was officially established, with Liu Zhenhuan as the captain and Zhang Wenlin as the instructor. Later, the soldiers went to Hui villages and towns to promote the significance of anti-Japanese war, teach the masses to sing anti-Japanese songs, encourage the masses' morale, and were warmly welcomed by the masses. More young people asked to join the Hui people's anti-Japanese brigade.
Cangxian Cangxian District 6th District, 20 people signed up to join the army. Seventeen or eighteen people came to Xinxian Town, Yanshan County to join the army at one time. Liu Hongchen, the former battalion commander of the bandit special battalion in the six districts of Cang County, was killed by Liu Peichen, the commander of the North China Emperor's Army to protect the people and suppress the Communist Party. Liu Hongchen's uncle Liu Jinyou formed a team of dozens of people and vowed to avenge his nephew, which was incompatible with the return of the traitor.
Liu Zhenhuan did Liu Jinyou's work several times, hoping that he would put the overall situation first and fight against Japan together. Liu Jinyou was moved and led the team to the Minsheng Anti-Japanese Brigade. In one month, the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade has grown to more than 100 people. The Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade won several victories before and after the establishment ceremony, and the masses applauded.
Once, the Hui Muslim Anti-Japanese Brigade attacked the puppet army outposts in Cangzhou Jiedi, and captured a squad of the puppet army at the outposts. They attacked Li Tianshui Xingzhuang's headquarters and all annihilated the defending enemies. When the masses heard that there were bandits in the villages in Liushe, the troops deployed a bandit suppression operation, which shocked the bandits. The masses said: "When the Anti-Japanese Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade comes, we will be stable."
In October 1940, the captain Liu Zhenhuan received an order to bring the troops to the Huimin area in northern Shandong for ideological rectification. After three months of ideological rectification, the soldiers' thoughts became more unified.
In January 1941, the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade returned to Cangxian and Yanshan County in Hebei. There was a bandit team of dozens of people in this area. The bandit leader was Zhang Wenhe, who was the brother of Zhang Wenlin, the political instructor of the Anti-Japanese Brigade. Zhang Wenhe used to be the pseudo-sponsored leader of the rebellious Liu Peichen, but he felt very frustrated when he was working under the Japanese, so he left Liu Peichen and remained a bandit. Liu Zhenhuan said to Zhang Wenlin: "You are brothers with him, and see if you can try to win him into our anti-Japanese team."
Zhang Wenlin said: "I will try my best to do my best." So Zhang Wenlin stayed alone, and was with Zhang Wenhe every day, telling him about the international and domestic situation, anti-Japanese policies, China's way out, etc. A month later, Zhang Wenhe was persuaded to agree to join the Hui Muslim anti-Japanese team. So, the bandit armed forces of sixty or seventy people were renamed the Huimin Anti-Japanese Armed Forces, with Zhang Wen and the captain.
At this time, the Hui Min Anti-Japanese Brigade lacked guns and ammunition. Then, in the battle with the Japanese and puppet troops, the brigade seized the enemy's guns and ammunition and the enemy robbed more than a dozen vehicles of food and supplies from the masses. The troops returned all the seized food and supplies to the victims.
The masses hate a stronghold in the old town of on the Yanshan County-Tianjin Highway. This stronghold has 30 Japanese troops, more than 40 puppet troops, and some puppet policemen who often come out to rob the masses of their supplies. The masses gritted their teeth with hatred for them. Liu Zhenhuan said: "Many people are already angry when they talk about the stronghold. We must find a way to destroy it." The soldiers agreed. Captain
sent a scout to the site to check it carefully. The scout came back and reported: "More than 30 Japanese troops were stationed in the village, with houses and hidden objects around it, so it is difficult to get close to it. More than 40 puppet troops stationed in the village, close to the market, and facilitate attack. The Japanese and puppet troops' bunkers are not easy to support each other with firepower." Liu Zhenhuan said: "We will first destroy the puppet army's bunkers, and then we can monitor the Japanese bunkers." Zhang Wenlin said: "Yes, come one by one."
August 1, there were many people going to the old market town to go to the market, which was conducive to cover operations. The soldiers of the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade disguised themselves, some pushed cars full of watermelons to pretend to be selling melons, some dressed up as farmers to go to the market happily, and some brought some agricultural products, and they followed the crowds to the market forward.
Several soldiers came to the puppet army's bunker gate one after another. The captain winked. A soldier deliberately poured a cart of watermelons in front of the west bunker gate. Two puppet army sentries saw it on it and said, "Go and pick up watermelons."
They left the guardhouse and walked down, took sacks of watermelons. As soon as they loaded a few, their backs were hit by the warrior's muzzle. The soldiers said, "Rise up their hands." The sentry was so scared that they threw away the watermelons and raised their hands obediently to surrender. At this time, the other soldiers quickly entered the bunker, pointed their guns at the puppet army and shouted, "Stop the gun and don't kill them!"
these puppet soldiers put down their weapons and became prisoners before they could react. After learning the news, the puppet troops of the East Bunker took out weapons and started a fierce battle with the soldiers who arrived. The battle lasted for about half an hour. Seven or eight puppet troops in the East Bunker were shot dead, and the rest were captured. Two soldiers from the Anti-Japanese Brigade died heroically. In this battle, one small cannon and 40 long and short guns were seized.
When the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade attacked the puppet army, the Japanese army hid in their bunkers and did not dare to come out. The next day, the Japanese army in Yanshan County learned the news and arranged more than a dozen cars to the old city and picked up the Japanese soldiers in the bunker. There were no more Japanese and puppet troops in the old city and were liberated.
20 days later, the Huimin Brigade captured the Yuqiao stronghold on the Yanshan County-Cangzhou Highway, captured more than 30 puppet troops and seized more than 30 guns. The Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade pulled out the enemy's strongholds, which greatly encouraged the people's confidence in resisting Japan.
However, those surrendered guerrilla detachments also have low ideological awareness. Although they joined my anti-Japanese team, they still retained their original bandit habits. A brigade of the Jinnan guerrillas defected, with more than 100 defecting brigades led by the brigade leader Wang Fengyi.
A year ago, Wang Fengyi led the team to join the Jinnan guerrillas, but did not obey the leadership of the Jinnan guerrillas. They were under the banner of anti-Japanese war in Tianjin and engaged in bandit activities. When food and clothing are insufficient, they go to the people's homes to grab food, clothes, and ask for money. They take away valuable items when they see them. The masses refused, so they said, "We protect you, fight the Japanese desperately, and we will still care about your things."
If the masses refused to let them go, they would beat the masses. The masses said, "This style is considered a guerrilla team?" The detachment had a very bad influence. It organized several conversations with Wang Fengyi and did ideological work, which shows that our team puts the interests of the people first. Only by protecting the people can we get the sincere support of the people. But Wang Fengyi was in person and behind the scenes, allowing his soldiers to do whatever they wanted. Later, Wang Fengyi felt that it was boring to stay in the guerrillas anymore. He could not get any benefits, but was restricted everywhere, so he plotted to defect and find the puppet army.
One night, Wang Fengyi led the team to defect. After being discovered by the guerrillas, he reported to the superior organization. The organization of research and decision was made that such a defected team would not only continue to endanger the masses, but would instead join hands with the puppet army to retaliate against the guerrillas. Therefore, the Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade and a guerrilla team jointly encircle and annihilate Wang Fengyi's team.
Huimin Anti-Japanese Brigade and guerrillas took action immediately after accepting the mission. The group of people rode horses to chase them, and some people were wiped out in two or three days. They continued to pursue forward and inquire about the news. Finally, on the sixth day, they arrived at Baicaozhong Village, found the bandit leader Wang Fengyi and the remnants, and wiped them all out.
