There are two old men living here, Du Yanrong and his wife Cui Xiuping.
The two old men are both "old Dong medicine". They have started with a beautiful "workshop love", and have been with each other and have been with each other until now. In 1950, when the Chinese People's Volunteer Army went abroad to fight, they determined their relationship in "one-on-one" assistance; in 1953, when the victory of the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, they got married.
Du Yanrong was born in in September 1930 in Jiamusi . He joined the army in March 1948 and worked in the Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory under the Ministry of Health of Jiamusi Northeast Military Region. After the liberation of Shenyang, he moved with the company and worked in the first, second, fifth, and sixth factories of Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory respectively. During the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, Du Yanrong moved to Baicheng County, Heilongjiang with the workshop to produce products such as anesthetics and antimalarial drugs "Baolejun" for the frontline. He once risked his life to solve the problem of production process of antimalarial drugs and contributed to improving the production capacity of special drugs in my country in war. Mr. Du said: "From joining the army in Jiamusi at the age of 18 to the distribution of Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory, from relocating to Shenyang after liberation to resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea to move northward Baicheng County, from the planned economy period to market economy , we have witnessed the ups and downs of Dongyao, and it is the party's sunshine that nurtured me!"
devoted himself to the red pharmaceutical company to support the front line
" In March 1948, my father sent me to join the army. I was assigned to the Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory affiliated to the General Logistics Department of the Northeast Military Region. I became a trainee, worked in the ampul room, and later became a squad leader." Dongyao was established in Jiamusi by the General Logistics Department of the Northeast Democratic Alliance Army in 1946. It was also the first red pharmaceutical factory created by our party in the liberation of Northeast China. It was divided into two hospitals at the time. The West Hospital is a management department and a pharmaceutical production department. The management departments include the factory department, general affairs department, engineering department, accounting room, large canteen, and small canteen; the production workshop includes ampoule room, tablet room, traditional Chinese medicine room, laboratory room, large packaging room, laboratory, etc. The East Hospital produces medical devices.
"Everything is for war, everything is for the wounded and sick." Du Yanrong said.

At that time, the medicines produced by the pharmaceutical factory were continuously sent to the front line of the Liberation War, providing an important guarantee for our army to continue to win victory. The factory leaders and relevant departments at that time were: factory director Zheng Tong, political commissar Wang Wei, deputy factory director Luo Shuzhang , engineering department chief Sun Fangqi, general affairs department chief Song Yabo, procurement department chief Pan Shouren and Xie Boying, ampoule room chief He Ying, laboratory director Bai Aimin and Zhao Guo, and medical equipment department chief Mu Jingsheng. During this period, Zhu Xuefan, then vice chairman of the World Federation of Trade Unions and vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, came to the factory to give a report, telling the corruption and incompetence of the government of Chiang Kai-shek, and inspiring everyone to continue to fight.
In 1948, Shenyang was liberated. Zheng Tong, the then director of the Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory, came to Shenyang to receive the "Northeast Pharmaceutical Experimental Factory and its five factories" and reorganize it.

"In January 1949, Wang Wei led some employees to move from Jiamusi to Shenyang. In May, our last batch of more than 100 people boarded the train to Shenyang. Most of the pharmaceutical equipment was moved with him." Du Yanrong said, "On June 1, Dongyao was led by the Ministry of Health of the Northeast People's Government. We took off our military uniforms and all moved to business. Each of us wore a round blue-backed factory emblem on our chest, which read 'Northeast People's Government Northeast Chemical Pharmaceutical Factory'."
produces anesthetics and treats the wounded
October 1950, the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea broke out. Northeast Pharmaceutical was ordered to move anesthetics and research institutions to Baicheng County, Heilongjiang Province, and establish the fifth Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory. So, Du Yanrong and dozens of Dongyao workers arrived in Baicheng County by train, and used the local grain warehouse to transform it and established a production workshop and production line.
War represents bloodshed and sacrifice, and anesthetics are essential.
Du Yanrong recalled that due to the relatively backward weapons and equipment of our army, countless wounded people were injured by US bombardment on the front line. The injured need to use a large amount of painkillers during both surgical treatment and recovery periods. Employees from Northeast Pharmaceutical Factory extract morphine from opium and make anesthetics for the injured to use.Time was tight and the task was heavy. At that time, Du Yanrong and his colleagues built a morphine workshop and a codeine workshop in the local grain warehouse in just one month.
"I am in the production workshop of anesthesia raw materials. The extraction rate of opium is only 50%, and the drug is very toxic during the production process of anesthetics. But even so, no one retreated because of this." Du Yanrong remembered that everyone rushed from Shenyang to Baicheng County at that time, and the conditions were very difficult. White coats, gloves and masks were basically "stretched". "The production conditions were very difficult at that time. Everyone had to produce at full capacity and produce all employees when the masks were not protected. This was a very difficult thing at that time."
Du Yanrong said that once, after get off work, his nose and eyes were particularly painful because he inhaled some medicines. "Opium is a poison. Colleagues who don't wear masks often feel bitter after get off work. We need to clean it with water as soon as possible to ensure safety." In addition to the fear of opium, everyone is also worried that they will become dependent after inhaling some opium, which is what the legend at that time - it became "smoking smoke". However, all the worries failed to stop the group of young people in their teens and twenty years old, and gave birth day and night without hesitation. Everyone hopes to help the frontline kill one more American devil through their own efforts.
"Where was there any saying that the eight-hour or ten-hour work system every day at that time? We just did what we came, and even when we came, we rushed to do it!" Du Yanrong said that there was no fixed production capacity or output at that time, which means "we produce whatever medicine we needed."
"We have the strictest requirements for the workshop for producing morphine. At that time, the saying was that single people were not allowed to enter the factory. During work, at least two people entered the workshop at the same time. If you want to enter the workshop again after get off work, you need to find a guard to walk with the procedure." The production team where Du Yanrong is located is constantly producing morphine raw materials every day. He has witnessed the record of the daily production of more than 30 kilograms of production in his workshop. "Thinking that our medicines can cure volunteer army on the battlefield, our fighting spirit became better!" The morphine products produced in Du Yanrong's workshop every day were put into a raw material bucket, and then sealed, and after many twists and turns, they were sent to the front line.
During the work break, everyone went to the local temporary hospital to visit the wounded people pulled back from the Korean battlefield.
"The temporary hospital at that time was some local dirt houses. A room was surrounded by small dirt kangs. Many wounded people were bandages, some had their arms missing, and some had their legs broken, lying on the dirt kang in pain. This pain caused by the war has inspired us, a group of passionate young people. We must speed up production and produce more medicines to help them relieve their pain."
The wounded were sleeping on the dirt kangs of local people, while Du Yanrong and his colleagues slept on the ground of some dirt houses. "From the first day we arrived in Baicheng County, we used thatch as mattresses, and lie on the thatch after work every day, and slept until dawn." Du Yanrong still missed the thatch beds back then. "The days when we work together are the happiest moments in our lives!" The only thing that made Du Yanrong, who was in his early twenties, feel "unhealthy" was that due to the limited food at that time, the only sorghum rice with pickles every day often made them sleep hungry when they were in their physical development. "I was especially looking forward to improving the food every month. I remember one time when the meal started, the person who gave the meal told us that today, sorghum rice was mixed with small beans . Everyone was so happy that their eyes were wide open, and they hurriedly finished their work and waited to eat small beans."
broke the danger of "Bai Lejun"
Since early October 1950, Du Yanrong's team was often notified to move to various places.
"The days at that time were just passing today and I don't know what to do tomorrow, and the plan kept changing." He recalled that the war situation was changing at that time, and there was no fixed place in the workshop every day. Everyone was often notified to leave and hurriedly dismantled the production line. Then, shortly after, I received a notice and continued production. So, everyone restored the production line again.
In the second year of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, Du Yanrong's pharmaceutical factory took on the task of producing antimalarial drugs, and ensured supply front-line demand after production. "At that time, we were trying to produce a drug called 'Balejun', which was particularly toxic. At that time, my lips, fingernails and even skin were purple. It was stipulated that I had to take off my work clothes after work and take a bath. Looking back at that time, we tried to produce drugs under extremely difficult conditions to meet the needs of resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea."
In May 1952, Du Yanrong moved from the Fifth Factory of Baicheng County to the Sixth Factory in Shenyang with the workshop to continue to produce "Balejun". A problem happened soon. At that time, his first reaction position was easily "flushed the pot" during the distillation process, causing the pipeline to crystallize and blockage, and it is easy to cause poisoning during disassembly. This is a big problem. Experts of all levels came to the workshop one after another, and even Soviet experts came to see it, but they didn't understand what the problem was.
Finally, in the competition for patriotism tapping potential and finding tricks carried out by the entire factory, Du Yanrong found a way to solve this problem. "At that time, I lived in the single dormitory in the factory. Apart from eating all day long, I was focused on my post. Later, through several small experiments, I changed the distillation method of reaction materials, and finally solved the long-standing problem of drug distillation. Soon, my team was awarded the honorary title of "Production Pioneer Team". Zhao Leiran, the director of the Sixth Factory, personally sent a banner and hung it on my post. After Sun Qingwen, the Organization Department of the Organization Department of the Eastern Pharmaceutical Party Committee, learned about my deeds during his investigation, he recommended to submit it to " Shenyang Daily " and was published. In the next quarter's evaluation, I received a bonus of 30 yuan, and I felt very honored."
Du Yanrong said that all the motivation at that time was only to solve safety hazards in production, reduce the occurrence of accidents in the factory, ensure that the drug production capacity can be improved, and do my best to ensure the frontline drug use needs.
Beautiful "workshop love"
Du Yanrong's wife Cui Xiuping is 90 years old this year.
After the liberation of Shenyang, she worked in the Fourth Factory of Northeast Chemical Pharmaceutical Factory. In 1950, Dongyao established a vocational and industrial cultural school. This school is one of the vocational and industrial cultural schools established earlier after the liberation of Shenyang. On the basis of unified teaching, the school advocates amateur "one-to-one" pairing. At that time, Cui Xiuping, who worked in the injection workshop and had a good Chinese language skills, became the targets of helping each other with "Laodong Medicine" from Jiamusi City, the former PLA soldiers, and Du Yanrong, a good math. With the help of other comrades, the two established a romantic relationship. During the study, the two people's grades gradually improved and their relationship gradually warmed up. At that time, Du Yanrong extracted the medicine and made the medicine, while Cui Xiuping packaged the finished product in the workshop. The production packaging process is very strict. Tens of thousands of injections must be checked under the lamp a day, and no contamination is allowed.

Recalling his experience of participating in the aid of drugs for the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, the old man Cui Xiuping told reporters that at that time, she and other colleagues from Dongyao were busy producing in the injection workshop during the day and stir-frying fried noodles for the volunteers at night. "If there is no fried noodles, it will not be able to solve the minimum living security of the volunteers. Therefore, we all work hard to ensure that they are strong on the battlefield."
On October 31, 1953, 20-year-old Cui Xiuping and 23-year-old Du Yanrong got married.

This is the engagement photo of Cui Xiuping and Du Yanrong during the National Day in 1951.
The hard life and special experience at the time tempered their will. After 70 years of ups and downs, their emotions are as pure and sincere as the medicine is refined into the finished packaging. After marriage, Du Yanrong and Cui Xiuping had a son and a daughter, and their family was happy. Even among the elderly grandchildren, one of them has become an expert in the road and bridge industry, as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Du Yanrong said: "We are the 'Dongyao Family', the couple, and the son and daughter-in-law both retired in Dongyao."

While talking to the two elders, it was time for the two elders to take a walk again. On the small road in the park where Er Lao lived, the reporter saw them, as if he saw the girl who "cooked noodles" and the "Laodong Medicine" who produces anesthetics. In them, we see the age, and also see the gratitude for life and the yearning for the future.
