The origin of the name of Baisangguan comes from a strange old tree growing there. This tree looks like a ginkgo tree and a mulberry tree . It is said to be a ginkgo tree but it has mulberry leaves . It is said to be a mulberry tree but it actually bears ginkgo . The name of this tree cannot be found in the encyclopedia dictionary. It is simply a sacred tree. So what is going on here?

The thing is like this. Legend has it that during the and years of the Ming Dynasty, there was a large ginkgo tree growing locally. Over the years, the tree became large and hollow. A mulberry tree actually grew out of the hollow of the ginkgo tree. There were trees in the tree, and trees grew in the tree. , the two trees blend into one and look like one tree, so the wonder of the mulberry and ginkgo trees is created in heaven. The locals named this tree "White Mulberry Tree" in the simplest, most direct and most vivid terms. Not only that, but the area where this strange tree grows is also named White Mulberry or simply White Mulberry because of the tree. Unfortunately, this old tree was later cut down when the school was being built.

There is a Lei Feng Pass about 5 kilometers west of "White Mulberry Tree". The terrain of this pass is the most steep in this area, forming a natural pass. More importantly, this pass is not only the ancient Yunyang Prefecture leading to various places in Dongxiang. It is located in an important place, and it is also an essential route to Shangzhou from Shaanxi and Nanyang from Henan. As a result, the white mulberry tree and Lei Feng Ya (pass) have become the most representative symbols of the local area.

In 1960, it was reorganized into Baisang District and administered seven small communes: Baisang, Baiying, Baiwan, Gaomiao, Dongliang, Meizi and Huangshi. In 1975, the districts were withdrawn and merged into communes, becoming Baisang, Huangshi and Gaomiao communes. In 1987, it was restored to Baisang District.
