recalls the years of the Danbei Anti-Japanese War. When talking about the Danbei Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Group, there are many powerful figures such as Guan Wenwei. There are many historical materials, whether it is passed down by word of mouth or recorded and studied. However, Danbei's literal name alone is not enough to cover the anti-Japanese historical sites including Visiting Immortals. Shen Zhongquan, the founder of Jiangsu Chaoli Electric Co., Ltd., an outstanding Communist Party member of Danyang City, and a 41-year-old party member, has a wish to build a New Fourth Army Advance Column Memorial Hall in Fangxian.
Mr. Shen was waiting for me at home. I was listening and taking notes when I suddenly discovered that the pen holder I brought had a small rectangular plastic sheet rolled into it, with the oath of joining the Party printed on it. What I recorded was a Danyang Party article. There is a unique story in history about swearing in the party in the cemetery.
In 1984, Shen Zhongquan worked at the Yangjia Appliance Irrigation Station in the Fangxian section of the Jiuqu River. He was originally from Fangxian and was then the Party Secretary of the Changchun Financial College. Chao Husheng was very happy when he heard that Shen Zhongquan had joined the party. He immediately blurted out and said excitedly: "You I don’t know, your father is also a member of the Communist Party!”
Shen Zhongquan was shocked when he heard this, because he had only heard that his father, Sun Xiaozhen, died before he was thirty due to “bulging disease” (schistosomiasis).
In mid-December 1937, Guan Wenwei established the Nishan Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Group in his hometown of Nishan. The three Guan brothers were the first to raise the flag of righteousness and mobilize the people of neighboring villages to resist the Japanese. In July 1938, Liu Yan, director of the political department of the first detachment of the New Fourth Army, was appointed by Chen Yi to visit Xianqiao and reorganized the later Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Corps into the Danyang Guerrilla Column. In mid-September, Liu Yan led more than 20 military and political cadres including Guo Meng to visit Xianqiao and reorganized the Danyang Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Column into the New Fourth Army Advance Column.
Two groups and one team are active in Danbei and Fangxian, etc., affecting Zhulin, Ximao, Dongmao, Yuxiang, Shang, Dushan, Rongmeima, Qilin, Chuntang, Houce, Nishan, and Guanshan , Gaoqiao, Yaojiaqiao and other villages, the Sun family villagers naturally joined the anti-Japanese self-defense team, and Sun Xiaogen became the youngest activist, standing guard and reporting information for the guerrilla anti-Japanese resistance.
One night, four young people, Chao Husheng, Li Shuanglin, Sun Yinhai, and Sun Xiaozhen, came to a cemetery at the foot of Qifeng Mountain. The four of them discussed a major matter here. They wanted to join the party like the three housekeeper brothers and follow the Communist Party! They raised their arms. Although they couldn't see their arms clearly in the dark, they could hear each other's heartbeats clearly. In the bloody and white war years, for the sake of the secrets of the conservative party and in order not to harm their families, no one told anyone about joining the party. Only they knew about it.
A narration by Chao Husheng revealed a piece of information about Danyang Party history that no one knew about. After that, the four of them followed Guan Wenwei, digging roads, digging railroad tracks, demolishing bridges, blocking the enemy's passage, and raising grain and grass. They all carried out secret operations. It is impossible to verify the specific time when
joined the party, but the approximate year can be used as a reference.
Although there are no historical records and the parties involved are no longer alive, they have been integrated into the history of Danbei’s revolutionary struggle. When preparing for the Memorial Hall of the New Fourth Army’s Advance Column, everyone unanimously proposed that the historical materials of the party oath taken by the four young people who visited the immortals in Qifengshan Cemetery 80 years ago should be recorded.
