On September 10, 1945, Deng Xiaoping and Liu Bocheng commanded Jinjiluyu Field Army , which started the first annihilation of in the early days of the War of Liberation -the battle of the Shangdang party .

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Chiang Kai-shek couldn't wait to fight for the fruits of victory in the War of Resistance, playing with the hands of the civil war and the counter-revolutionary "peace talks". The friction and contention between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party are concentrated in the Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan regions.
In order to defend the fruits of victory in the War of Resistance against Japan and ensure the safety of the liberated areas, the Central Military Commission ordered , Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan Military Region to resolutely annihilate the enemies who entered the Shangdang area (now in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province), remove the troubles of the heart, and then transfer the main force to peace. Han line.
Liu Bocheng, commander of the Shanxi-Hebei-Luyu-Henan Military Region, and Deng Xiaoping, political commissar, carried out a large-scale annihilation war against the Kuomintang invasion force from September 10 to October 12, 1945, in accordance with the Central Military Commission's policy of "tact for tits and fight for every inch of land". Annihilated 13 divisions and 2 advancing columns with more than 35,000 men, seized 74 artillery pieces, more than 2,000 light and heavy machine guns, more than 16,000 long and short guns, and a large number of military materials.
The battle of Shangdang was not only a prelude to the war of liberation, but also politically significant. The battle not only relieved the Kuomintang army’s direct threat to the Shanxi-Hebei-Luyu-Henan Liberated Area, but also effectively cooperated with the Chongqing negotiation , achieving the expected purpose of "talking while fighting, and promoting talks by fighting".
Liu Bocheng said in reviewing the battle of Shangdang: “This victory gave us a head back and bullets, which created conditions for the quick transfer to the Ping-Han line.” Since then, the Jin-Hebei-Lu-Yu area has become increasingly popular. It was stable and became an important base for the victory of the country, and laid the preliminary conditions for the establishment of the North China Bureau and Beijing as the capital.
