Here we need to talk about Panjshir's terrain advantage. Terrain is one of the three elements "time, location, and harmony" that we often say to win a battle.
For the Taliban, occupies the advantages of "time" and "human harmony". At that time, the Taliban has formed a new government in Afghanistan, and it is impossible for countries in the world to launch a war to overthrow it; Renhe, the Taliban already had 70,000 fighters before they recaptured Kabul , and now only a lot more. There are also advanced weapons left over by the former Afghan government and the US military. However, for the National Resistance Front, it has the advantage of "location" in the Panjshir Valley, that is, the advantage of "winning more with less" .
In 1979, the Soviet Union launched the war in Afghanistan . Masood returned to his hometown of Panjshir and led the Afghan guerrillas to launch a resistance movement. In 1982, the guerrillas grew to more than 3,000 people. Because of its activities in the Panjshir Valley and causing heavy damage to the Soviet army, it was honored as the Lion of Panjshir by the Afghans.
After the Taliban regained Afghanistan, they carried out a total of four attacks on Panjshir on August 20, 23, 30, and September 2, all of which ended in failure .
On the evening of September 2, 8,000 Taliban soldiers and 350 (military) off-road vehicles were repelled after a 4-hour battle between the Taliban and the Panjshir Province anti-Tower forces. The Taliban suffered heavy losses, 450 Taliban soldiers died and 130 Taliban soldiers were captured.
It can be seen that Panjshir has a huge geographical advantage .
Nowadays, if the Taliban want to gain a foothold in Afghanistan and be recognized by all countries in the world, they must promote peace and economic development . It is impossible to only think about living and fighting as before.
