Perhaps it is caused by "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms". Many people think that Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu are useless. They started with a king bomb, but in the end they lost everything and no scum was left.
In fact, the real situation is that Cao Cao quickly expanded into the "One Brother of the Three Kingdoms" after annexing Yuan Shao. This is almost clear to everyone. For example, Xun Yu, Guo Jia, Zhang He, Cui Yan and many other important officials and famous generals of Cao Wei were originally under Yuan Shao. Even Cao Cao himself was Yuan Shao's younger brother.
As for Yuan Shu, he seems to be even more unbearable than Yuan Shao. But in fact, it was Soochow that replaced Yuan Shu.
