2 On May 13, 022, the National Natural Science Foundation of China issued the "Decision on the Handling of the Problems of the Falsification of Pictures or Data of Papers published by Wu Dongmei, Zheng Yuanlin, Lu Jun, etc., the Fake Research Process, the Unconsensual Use of Others' Signatures, and the Existing False Information in in Project Final Report", publicly reported 35 papers involved, and the "Molecular Mechanism of TRPV4-mediated Treatment of Dodontal Acid in Mice Cognitive Deficits" (Approval No. 81400902), recovered the allocated funds, and permanently canceled Wu. Dongmei National Natural Science Foundation of China (from January 18, 2022), Wu Dongmei will be criticized; it will be decided to revoke the Zheng Yuanlin National Natural Science Foundation project "Research on the Mechanism of the Activation of HMGB1/RAGE Signal Axis Mediated Cognitive Deficiencies in Type 2 Diabetes Misconduct in Misconduct in Scientific Fund Work" in accordance with Article 35, Item 4 of the "HDAC6 Activation of HMGB1/RAGE Signal Axis" (Approval No. 81571055), the allocated funds were recovered, and Zheng Yuanlin's National Natural Science Foundation project application qualification was cancelled for 5 years (January 18, 2022 to January 17, 2027), and Zheng Yuanlin was criticized; the decision was made to refer to Article 17, items 3 and 4 of the "Regulations on Handling Misconduct in Scientific Fund Work of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Trial)" and the approval was cancelled for 5 years (January 18, 2022 to January 17, 2027).
This article was withdrawn on October 6, 2022. The withdrawal instructions show that after the article was published, the two authors Zheng Yuanlin and Zheng Guihong contacted the magazine editorial department, saying that they did not know about the publication of the article and asked to withdraw the article. While some authors claim to be unaware of this article, we cannot find conclusive evidence to support this claim. Additionally, multiple image duplications were found in the pictures of the article and in the other articles, which were documented in the comments on PubPeer. The authors were unable to provide the original data and explained that they used a technology company to help generate the data. The author did not respond to further questions.
This questioned the effectiveness of the study results due to the lack of original images, and the executive editor of Cancer Research and Treatment Technology withdrew this article. After the withdrawal decision was made, the agency contacted the magazine and asked it to withdraw the article.
