Liu Xiuxiang is the deputy secretary and vice president of the Party Branch of Wangmo County Experimental High School in Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Qiannan, Guizhou Province. He is the " Chinese College Student Self-reliance Star " who once "carried to college for thousands of miles" and is also the "most beautiful teacher in the country" who has been teaching for 10 years.
Liu Xiuxiang was born in a small mountain village in Wangmo County, . In 2008, he was admitted to Shandong Linyi Normal University. He took care of his mother while going to school. Back then, many media reported on his deeds. Faced with the help of a flood of kind-hearted people, he refused and only accepted the residence arranged by the school for his mother.
The money he earns from setting up street stalls, working as a tutor, and being a waiter is not only used to support his mother, but also sponsored three younger brothers and sisters who also made a living by picking up waste when they were in middle school, giving them 300 yuan a month to each. Two of them were admitted to college in 2009 and 2010, but their youngest sister dropped out of school. In 2012, Liu Xiuxiang graduated from university and started working in a company. The younger sister called him and said she was about to get married. He realized that what is more terrifying than having no money to study is that he has no dreams. He decided to return to the mountains and sow a seed of "to read" on the hearts of children in the mountains and help them get out of the mountains.
In this year, Liu Xiuxiang was admitted to Wangmo County’s special post teacher with the first place in history in the county, and started his three-foot podium career in to beat Yi Town . The long-term poverty and backwardness have caused local farmers to pay less attention to education and hope that their children will go out to work early. Liu Xiuxiang launched the "School Helping to the Countryside Action", riding a motorcycle to travel to villages and villages all year round, and persuading students everywhere. In the three years of special post teachers, Liu Xiuxiang visited more than 500 students at home, talking about his experience and the country's emphasis on education, so that the seeds of "to read" can sprout in the hearts of parents and students.
In 2021, Li Yingfen returned to her hometown to work after graduation. She is the student that Liu Xiuxiang once advised and sponsored. "The situation at home did not allow me to continue studying. I asked Teacher Liu many times to go out to work, but Teacher Liu did not let me leave school. One day, Teacher Liu came excitedly to tell me that caring people are willing to support me and my brother." Li Yingfen said that during the winter vacation of 2018, she accidentally discovered that this caring person was Teacher Liu, and she burst into tears.
More than 1,000 people have joined the rural student aid campaign initiated by Liu Xiuxiang, and have helped poor students solve the problem of more than 13 million yuan in scholarships, covering more than 4,200 students.
In order to better gather resources and help the development of education in my hometown, since 2016, with the support of education departments at all levels of provinces, prefectures and county, Liu Xiuxiang Prefecture-level Famous Teachers (Model Workers) Studio and Provincial Famous Teachers (Model Workers) Studio have been established. Relying on the studio, we have implemented the "Blue and Blue Project" for training young teachers, forming the "Liu Xiuxiang + Wangmo teachers + state-level Famous Teachers + provincial and national famous teachers" teacher comprehensive quality improvement model to help young teachers grow rapidly.Over the past 10 years, Liu Xiuxiang has conducted more than 2,700 teacher training and student moral education lectures. Starting from his own experience and insights, he talks about the development of education, the hopes of children in mountainous areas, and the responsibilities and feelings of teachers... The total audience exceeds 10 million.
Liu Xiuxiang engraved the educational concept of "being virtuous and wise, moral education first" on the wall of the studio, and used his own actions to interpret the responsibility of a Communist Party member and an educator. Today, this studio has become a moral education brand in Guizhou.
