When I was admitted to Changjun Middle School in 2017, the school would let students with high grades participate in the competition, so I chose chemistry. When I entered school, the seniors with excellent competition grades were still admired by everyone, and the school’s honor list was full of international gold medal players. When I graduated, I was just a provincial first-year student who was broken by the Strong Foundation Project. I have no right to argue with the advantages and disadvantages of the Strong Foundation Plan, but I hope that a contestant who has received an invitation from "to get the first-class exam to get the first-class exam in the provincial first prize" became a consolation contestant who gave a better than nothing "to give full marks in the interview" (the competition student has it). Speaking of high school competitions, many people think that this is the ultimate test-taking intra-study and the back door for the powerful to go to school. But for me and my classmates, that's not the case! The invitations and awards we received were all poured out with sweat and tears. Our coaches have very strict requirements for us. We only rest half a day a week in the first year of high school, and only half a day off every few months in the second year of high school. We only rest four days during the Chinese New Year, but we were driven out because the school closed down. But at that time, none of the people said they were tired, hard, and could not accept it... they even studied and read books during their breaks.
This kind of effort will naturally have the expectation of winning awards and going to school, but it is more of a desire for knowledge. Because after several rounds of screening, the rest are people who truly love this subject.
For the sake of the exam, we can turn over the most mainstream organic textbooks at that time - because their opening books are very large, they were nicknamed "big books" - ten times. I have flipped the cover of my book, and I even picked up a mistake and sent it to the editor-in-chief of P University, and received his reply. But we can also learn knowledge that is completely incompatible with exams simply because of our interest. At that time, I found an interesting crystal structure , a very symmetrical molecule, and a reaction that is difficult for everyone to think of. The group will share it together, and some will even become a meme. As for whether these uncommon knowledge points will be tested? Who cares? If it’s not for interest, how can you persist in the competition life?
My competitive life at Changjun Middle School was concentrated in the first and second grades of high school. There was no epidemic at that time, and the school was very relaxed in and out of school. Boarders could leave school briefly for lunch and dinner. Opposite our school is the most popular local Cha Yan Yuese milk tea shop. Sometimes when I am tired of reading books, I go to the bookstore outside to buy two new magazines and put them back to the dormitory, and read them during lunch break; or buy a cup of tea and drink while reading books and writing questions during evening study. Although the coach is very strict in his studies, he is dedicated to us - playing football with us during holidays, and sometimes making appointments with other competition groups. The teachers in the school contacted us everywhere to teach teachers who were better at outside: from local university professors to teachers from P and T universities, as well as former seniors and seniors, and even socialized around. Once when I went to his desk to get the test paper, I saw a lot of stomach medicine on his desk, and he was so busy.
Although the competition is very similar to a big bet, the efforts of not studying other courses in the past two years and focusing on the competition are all on the competition, but in terms of the test-taking atmosphere in Changjun , it seems that it is not as good as at the University of Science and Technology now. At that time, I could learn a lot of knowledge for the mentality of "what if I get the exam" and read different books, from physical chemistry to biochemistry , and I could study things I was interested in repeatedly - I once pushed a formula of three pages just to confirm a conclusion on the certificate, and was excited about it for a long time, and even wrote in the book "I launched it independently on x-year x-year x-year, x-year, I released it independently." Now I am in anxiety about exams and dare not test it outside the course because I am worried that it will affect my grades.If I saw me in high school now, I would probably feel that I was not worthy of the efforts I had at that time.
And what has been won in the past two years of gamble?
In September of the senior year of high school, the difference of 0.5 points did not enter the provincial team, and returned to regular study with the first year of the province. During the summer vacation of the second year of high school, I signed the "save one reduction one batch" contract mentioned above, comforting myself not to be afraid, or I was also lying to myself - I heard that many seniors and sisters were broken in their contracts as early as the second year of high school, but I wishfully thought that it was just that some schools were not authentic in their work, and the news about strong foundation was also ignored by "It is impossible to announce this year and implement it next year."
Maybe I just don’t want to believe that the goal I’m striving for has gradually become a dream.
High school seniors are undoubtedly painful. Of course, I don’t have to worry about chemistry. Chinese, English and biology have also improved rapidly with their talent and foundation, but mathematics and physics struggled offline for more than a month before they could barely get better. At that time, I often encouraged myself with the mentality of "I can endure the hardships of competitions, how can I be afraid of difficulties in regular courses?", but I still couldn't help but collapse when I saw the score.
Due to the changes in the competition class personnel (many people quit midway), I changed my class teacher in high school. The senior high school teacher was a Chinese teacher in her fifties. At that time, her health was actually a bit overwhelmed by the graduating class. She was still a group of contestants with explosive mentality. Whenever she climbed to the sixth floor to see us, she always made her knees hurt, and her cervical spine problems made her unable to sit in front for a long time, but she still insisted on getting to school at 7 in the morning and leaving at around 9 in the evening. She sat up and chatted with her classmates one by one. My first-year high school teacher was in the next class at that time. He was still as concerned about me as he did in my first year of high school. They pulled me back from my self-doubt again and again. There is also a physics teacher, as an alumnus of the junior class of the University of Science and Technology of China when the college entrance examination was just resumed. I have not figured out why he taught in high school now, because his knowledge and thinking ability always make me feel that it would be a pity that he would not build Rockets. Every time I ask him a lot of exercise questions and test papers, I always answered patiently, and occasionally made a joke or two to make us happy.
It’s a pity that I was still 4 points behind the strong base selection line in the end, and I was not even as good as the multiple-choice question for the comprehensive science and technology. When I packed my things from school, I took out a postcard posted on my dormitory desk - a classmate from our group wrote to me on New Year's Day: "I hope we will meet each other this fall." Unfortunately, we were all a little short of the appointment in the end.
I still remember when I first came to Changjun Middle School, I was walking on the road of academicians in the school. After carefully reading the introduction of 14 academicians on the roadside, I imagined these seniors who had been deeply engaged in various fields for the rest of their lives, and had studied on this campus like me, so I also had the expectation of "restoring my unique learning for the past sages". Finally, I found that I was just an ordinary person.
Now recalling the competition life, it may be like a story of fighting for a dream for three years but being swallowed by it, but if I were asked to choose again, I would still choose to run towards it.
Because that self-disciplined, curious, always passionate, and self-restrained girl, the group that has no barriers and shares knowledge and supports each other are too charming.
