Associate Professor Zhou Yuan of the School of Public Policy and Management delivered a speech as a teacher representative. Zhou Yuan analyzed the paradigm changes that students will face in the postgraduate stage from three aspects: problem perspective, epistemology , and methodology. First of all, the research must grasp the core of the problem, focusing on solving the source of the problem, clarifying the construction of the problem, exploring and reflecting on the deeper level of the problem, and rooting the questions raised in the development, changes and practice of the motherland. Secondly, academic research requires both raising questions from practice and understanding them through theoretical guidance. When students pay attention to the new paradigm of governance, they should think about the theoretical system behind it, including conceptual framework, underlying logic, cognitive direction, etc., so as to promote rapid changes in epistemology. Finally, at the methodological level, scientific principles and methods must be used to analyze problems. We should consider the relationship between description and explanation, the relationship between induction and deduction , the relationship between propositions and hypotheses, the relationship between abstraction and analogy, etc. Zhou Yuan said that the progress of human society stems from the continuous subversion of the old paradigm by the new paradigm. He hopes that in the new stage of learning, students can not only form a shift in the new and old paradigms at the three levels of problem perspective, epistemology and methodology, but also be able to integrate the three.
