Zhou Wei mentioned that in the past ten years, the state has continuously increased its coordination of language work, and the number of member units of the State Language Commission has increased from 18 to 30. The language laws and regulations have been formed based on the Constitution and cover more than 80 laws, regulations, rules and single-line regulations including the National Common Language and Character Law, Place Name Management Regulations , and Mandarin Proficiency Test Management Regulations . system.
In addition, various localities have established a reporting system for the language and writing work of provincial language committees, incorporating language and writing work into local spiritual civilization creation activities and the evaluation of the government's performance of educational responsibilities.
According to Zhou Wei, currently, there are more than 1,700 Mandarin proficiency testing institutions across the country. In the past ten years, more than 62 million Mandarin proficiency tests and more than 220,000 Chinese character application proficiency tests have been carried out.
