In the fourth quarter of 2019, Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and Peugeot Citroen (PSA) jointly announced that the two parties formally merged with each other holding 50% equity.
Since then, the fourth largest global manufacturer giant after the alliance of Volkswagen, Toyota, and Renault-Nissan was born. The new group is valued at 48.4 billion U.S. dollars. It has as many as 14 well-known auto brands and has diversified professional backgrounds around the world.
Recently, Peugeot Citroen Group (PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) officially released the logo of the new group Stellattis. The new logo is a minimalist style as a whole, consisting of Stellattis and dots of stars surrounding the subtitle "A".
Stellantis evolved from the Latin verb "stello", which translates as "light up with stars". The use of Latin is also because we want to use Latin to pay tribute to the two companies with a long history. This new brand name embodies the optimism and vitality that the two companies want to convey after the merger. At the same time, it indicates that this diversified and innovative new group hopes to become one of the new leaders in the era of sustainable mobility in the future.
Stellantis is used as the official name of the new group after the merger, and then Peugeot Citroen Group (PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will jointly release the corporate logo of the new group. The name and logo of the new group will become a brand symbol at the corporate level of the new group, but all sub-brands under the new group will continue to use their existing brand names and brand logos.
Of course, the birth of the new Stellatis Group also means that the overall costs and R&D expenses of the two groups will be reduced. The 14 subsidiaries of the new group, including Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, DS, Peugeot, Jeep, and Vauxhall Brands and various models will also be comprehensively sorted out, and appropriate adjustments or deletions may be made due to a more reasonable global model layout.
While the Peugeot Citroen Group (PSA) and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) have overlapping businesses in Europe, Latin America and China, the merger will form a more favorable "total synergy".
In addition, the combined PSA Group (PSA) can also take advantage of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA)'s deep foundation in the United States to have many positive effects on PSA's return to the US market. They are expected to complete the merger in the first quarter of 2021.
