Episode 1 There is a family named Pan in the eastern suburbs of De'an Prefecture. Several generations have read poetry and books. By this generation, the Pan family has become a famous scholarly family in De'an Prefecture.

The young master of the Pan family was named Pan Chuanran. Because he was born in a scholarly family, he had been well-read in poetry and books since he was a child. At the age of fifteen or sixteen, he became the leader among the young talents of De'an Mansion.

Pan Chuanran not only became famous at a young age, but he rarely had a playboy. He was involved in all schools of thought, and he was knowledgeable and talented. At the age of 21, he was requisitioned by the court as an official and his life became more prosperous.

After becoming an official, Pan Chuanran has come into contact with more books. I don’t know when I started, but I liked reading Buddhist scriptures.

Of course, at that time, Pan Chuanran was only interested in the mystery in Buddhist scriptures and had no plans to become a monk.

What's more, Pan Chuanran had married and got married in his early years, and his wife was also a famous lady in De'an Mansion. The couple had a handsome man and beautiful woman, and it was impossible for them to have the idea of ​​seeing through the world.

On this day, Pan Chuanran received a few days of vacation during his official duties. Thinking that some of the comments in the Buddhist scriptures were not very sure, he went to the temple to find the monks to discuss.

Pan Chuanran came to Master Xigong's temple. After some politeness, Master Xigong presented Qing tea. The two of them drank and chatted, and soon they got better.

Pan Chuanran asked Master Xigong for advice and expressed his confusion, saying that he yearned for what the Buddhist scriptures said, but could not let go of everything in the world, and he didn't know what to do.

. Even Master Xigong could not answer such a question rashly. After pondering for a moment, he chanted two poems casually:

. The lotus root floss is a sail, how to ask about weak water?

The sentence "The meaning of" also says that things like willow catkins duckweed stick to the sail, can the flowing water answer what they think?

But Pan Chuanran is worthy of being a person with exquisite orifices. After hearing this, he seemed to have gained something and made up his mind.

Pan Chuanran said goodbye soon and went home, but the first thing he did when he got home was to handle all the official duties he had in his hands, and then bid farewell to his wife, saying that he would resign from the office and become a monk from then on.

Despite his unyielding reluctance, his wife still failed to change Pan Chuanran's decision. Three days later, Pan Chuanran came to Master Xigong's temple and officially became a monk. His Dharma name was Lingshan. He was only 26 years old that year.

Pan Chuanran, who became a monk in Lingshan, has since been practicing in Buddhism and has also traveled thousands of miles a day. He soon became a proud disciple of Master Xigong.

However, after becoming famous, Lingshan did not continue to stay with Master Xigong, but built a thatched hut not far from the temple, where he recited sutras and Buddha alone, and vowed to recite the Buddha's name 100,000 every day.

Later, some years later, the world was not peaceful. A group of robbers came to De'an Mansion. Master Xigong's temple was also besieged, while the monk Lingshan walked out of the hut himself, facing the fully armed robbers without any fear.

The fierce robber pointed to the monk Lingshan and asked, "It is said that you are a monk who has attained enlightenment." So can you tell me how to become a Buddha?" If I can't answer, I'll kill you right away.

And the monk Lingshan just sang a Buddha's name and said ten words:

If you don't kill or set fire, you will be a living Buddha.

I don’t know if it was the kind of righteousness that was radiated from the monk Lingshan, or the robber really understood the Zen strategy in the Buddhist verse of Lingshan. Anyway, there were only ten words. After hearing this, the robber was lost for a while, and then he felt very cruel. In the end, he threw down the weapon in his hand and knelt down in front of the monk Lingshan to repent.

And the temple where Master Xigong is located is also spared from disaster.
