In 527 AD, Bodhidharma came to Shaolin Temple and founded the Zen sect under Mahayana Buddhism, which profoundly changed the future development path of Shaolin Temple. Therefore, Shaolin Temple is also called the ancestral hall of Zen Buddhism. In the Tang Dynasty, Zen Buddhism was already the largest sect in Chinese Buddhism. By the time of the Yuan Dynasty, Zen Buddhism completely unified the Shaolin Temple and the Vinaya Sect withdrew. Today, we appreciate several ancient poems related to Shaolin Temple.

Miyi: wandering, hesitating; Longchi: Jiulongtan, on Songshan; Cyan (gan, four tones) Garden: refers to a Buddhist temple or a Taoist temple; Ji (ji): it clears up after the rain.

Shen Quanqi was a connecting figure in the development of Tang poetry. Together with Song Zhiwen, they were collectively called the "Shen Song Dynasty". They laid the foundation for the formation of modern poetry (metrical poetry). However, because the two like to flatter the powerful and have low moral character, people generally love their talents but despise them as people. The background of this song "Visiting the Shaolin Temple" is in autumn, on a clear afternoon after the rain, the author climbed Mount Song. Cyanyu: namely Cangyuan, temple; Tianshi: the arrangement of the stars in the sky, and the palaces on the ground are also arranged in the same way; Dixiu: a tree in Shaoshi Mountain recorded in " Shan Hai Jing ", it is said that people who eat it The fruit can make people forget their sorrows and no longer be angry; Yingri: the emperor’s activity of welcoming and worshiping the sun; Xingle: hourglass and water leakage for timekeeping, which refers to time; Caiyu (you): colorful flags; Jade paste: fine wine, Immortal medicine; Immortal Yu: the immortal's vehicle, referring to the crane; Fuqiu: a person's name, Zhou Dynasty people, finally ascended to heaven and became immortals.

The ancient Shaolin Temple has a long history of Zen culture. The ruins of the dojo at that time were hidden on the edge of the cliff under the smoke. Because of the mountains, the setting sun cannot reach the foot of the mountains; because of the clouds and fog, the bells in the temple cannot reach very far. At that time, the founder of Bodhidharma only crossed the pass, and there was no news of him once he left the sky high and the road was far away. On Shaoshi Mountain, facing the wall for nine years can sink the sea. I want to know whether future generations can spread the Dharma of Bodhidharma ? The cypress trees on Songshan Mountain seem to be able to understand the thoughts of the sage.

廌 (zhi, four tones): unicorn; cen (cen): cliff bank; only pass through the pass: Legend has it that after the death of Patriarch Bodhidharma, he was buried in Xiong'er Mountain. Three years later, Song Yun went to the Western Regions as an envoy Back to the Central Plains, I met Bodhidharma in Congling and found that he was carrying a mango shoe. After coming back, Song Yun told the emperor about this. The emperor thought that he deliberately deceived the emperor, because everyone knew about Bodhidharma's death. Later, he opened Bodhidharma's coffin and found that there was really only one shoe; Cypress: In Songyang Academy of Songshan Mountain, There are three large cypress trees, which were named General Cypresses by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Three of them were destroyed in the late Ming Dynasty.

Patriarch Bodhidharma returned to the West with a mango shoe. No news came back, leaving only a Shaolin Temple. I hope that future generations will carry forward his Zen philosophy.
