However, like Kassapa, she had no interest in the world and only wanted to practice. So the two practiced together for 12 years. Jizu Mountain is located in Binchuan County, Yunnan Province, with an altitude of more than 3,000 meters. It is known as "Lingshan Buddha Capital" and "Tiankai Buddha Country". As the monastery of Maha Kassapa, Jizu Mountain had already become famous all over the world as early as the Tang Dynasty. By the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Buddhist buildings in the mountain had formed a huge scale of 36 temples and 72 nunneries, with more than 100 monks and nuns. There are 3,000 people, and the bells ring all night long.

But this was not the heyday of Jizu Mountain's development. During the Guangxu period, a monk named Xuyun went to India to study Buddhism. After completing his studies, his first stop was Jizu Mountain, where he worshiped Kassapa. It is said that when monk Xuyun was worshiping at Huashou Gate, three bells suddenly rang out from the stone gate, which echoed for a long time. This was a sight that had never happened before. Xuyun thought this was Kasyapa's response to him, so Make a vow to Kassapa to revive Jizu Mountain.

After Kassapa sat on Huajizu Mountain, this place became a holy place for Buddhism. Not only believers came to make offerings and donations, but countless practitioners also chose to practice seclusion here and understand the true meaning of life. People believe that Kassapa, a disciple of the Buddha, is still practicing in the mountains and protecting all living beings. He only needs to reach Jizu Mountain three times in his life to enter the paradise of Buddha after death. Does this mean that Kassapa is still alive today?

Mahagasyapa lived for 2,000 years?

Did Kassapa, a disciple of Buddha, really live for 2,500 years? Someone claims to have met him in Jizu Mountain. Is it true or false?

2500 years ago, before the Buddha entered Nirvana, he asked Kassapa to remain in this world and stay in samadhi at Jizu Mountain, waiting for the birth of Maitreya Buddha. More than 100 years ago, Monk Xuyun received enlightenment from Maha Kassapa and built a temple here to teach the Dharma. All signs indicate that Kassapa is still in the world, and there are many records of encounters with Kassapa in folk stories. Can anyone really break the cycle of three lives and live for thousands of years?

The earliest legend about encountering Maha Gaya comes from the master Xuanzang of the Tang Dynasty. It is said that Xuanzang was on his way to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures. When he passed through a deep mountain and old forest, he saw a thatched house surrounded by purple air. He suddenly felt that there might be an expert inside, so he went to check it out. I found an old monk who was in meditation. The old monk's body was covered with weeds. After talking to Xuanzang, he learned that this person was Da Jiaye.

And in the Qing Dynasty , the book "The Footprints of Old Monk Xuyun" recorded the chance encounter between Monk Xuyun and Da Jiaye. As we mentioned before, after Xuyun returned from studying Dharma in India, he went to Jizu Mountain to worship Mahagasyapa. When he arrived at Jizu Mountain, he heard three "dang-dang-dang" sounds.

Other believers present at that time were very surprised, because they came to worship every year and only occasionally heard the sound of small wooden fish bells. When Xuyun came, the bells rang three times, which showed that for Mahagayapa, Xuyapa was very important. The cloud is a different existence. When Xuyun went to Jizu Mountain for the third time, he saw Kassapa walking toward him holding the Buddha's cassock in his meditation.

According to the records, Xuyun is the Maitreya Buddha that Maha Gaya has been waiting for, but whether it is true or not cannot be verified, because in the last century, some people also claimed to have met Maha Gaya accidentally in Jizu Mountain.

In 1993, a Taiwanese doctor named Hong Wenliang traveled to Jizu Mountain. While admiring the scenery, he met an old monk. The two hit it off and started chatting. After walking together for a while, the old man suddenly said: "It's time for me to go home," and then he broke open the stone wall in front of Hong Wenliang and disappeared.

Seeing the scene in front of him, Hong Wenliang was also stunned. After reacting, he realized that he might have met the legendary Jia Yezheng. After all, on Jizu Mountain, the only old man with such magical powers must be Da Jiaye. Afterwards, some people came here to meet Venerable Kaye, but they never had the chance.

Another folk tale also happened in the last century, but in India. It is said that a British man named Paxson was originally a doctor and an out-and-out atheist, but a trip to India completely changed him. In the lingjiv mountains in India, Paxson met a senior monk.

The eminent monk not only invited Paxson to his residence, but also taught him Buddhism for a year. Under the guidance of the eminent monk, Paxson became enlightened and finally chose to escape into Buddhism. He also followed the old man's instructions to go to , Myanmar and return to Buddhism, becoming a "foreign monk" wearing cassocks. It is said that after Paxon converted to Buddhism, he met the eminent monk again while meditating. The other party told him that he was Maha Kassapa, a disciple of Sakyamuni Buddha.
