Activ Surgery, Moon Surgery and Proximie will use NVIDIA Clara Holoscan based on NVIDIA IGX to bring real-time AI to its surgical platform.

NVIDIA officially released the NVIDIA IGX platform for the medical edge AI use cases at the GTC22 conference, allowing intelligent machines to cooperate with human-machine to enjoy advanced security and guarantee functions.

IGX is a software-hardware-combined platform that provides secure, low-latency AI reasoning to meet clinical needs to gain instant insights from a range of medical applications, including robotic assistance and patient monitoring devices and sensors.

IGX platform supports NVIDIA Clara Holoscan, a specialized platform for specific fields that helps medical device developers connect edge, local data centers and cloud services. With this integration, developers can quickly develop new software-defined devices to bring the latest AI applications directly into the operating room.

Three leading medical device startups (Activ Surgical, Moon Surgical and Proximie) have chosen NVIDIA Clara Holoscan, which runs on the IGX platform, to provide strong support for its surgical robotics system. All three companies are members of NVIDIA’s startup acceleration program, a global program designed to help tech startups grow faster.

, including these three companies, currently more than 70 medical device companies, medical centers and startups are using Clara Holoscan to promote the deployment of AI applications in clinical settings.

Robotic Surgery Startup Raises Products for Products

Activ Surgical Selected NVIDIA Clara Holoscan to accelerate the development of its AI and augmented reality solutions for real-time surgical guidance. The Boston-based company uses ActivSight technology, allowing surgeons to view key physiological structures and physiological functions that are not visible to the naked eye, such as blood flow.

The company integrates this information into surgical imaging systems, committed to reducing the incidence of surgical complications, improving patient medical services and enhancing patient safety. “NVIDIA Clara Holoscan will help us optimize valuable engineering resources and get our products to market faster,” said Tom Calef, Chief Technology Officer,

Activ Surgical. “According to our vision, our in-operative AI solutions will leverage data-driven insights to transform the overall surgical experience and allow world-class surgery for the public.”

Paris-based robotics surgery company Moon Surgery is designing Maestro, an easy-to-use, adaptive surgical assisted robotic system that works with installed equipment and workflows in the operating room. "NVIDIA designs a variety of hardware and software, and has optimized architectures and libraries. With the help of Clara Holoscan, we don't have to bother with the things that usually take a lot of time during the medical device development cycle."

The company can instead focus its engineering resources on AI ms and other unique features. Adopting Clara Holoscan saves them time and resources, helping them reduce development time.

Hong Kong-based Proximie is building a telepresence platform to enable real-time remote collaboration for surgeons. With Clara Holoscan, the company is able to process local videos in the operating room, improving performance for users while maintaining data privacy and reducing cloud computing costs. Dr. Nadine Hachach-Haram, Founder and CEO of

Proximie, said: “We are excited to work with NVIDIA to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem and take a step further in the mission of connecting global operating rooms. Thanks to this collaboration, we are able to provide a highly immersive experience and provide resilient digital solutions that enable operating room devices around the world to communicate with each other and gain valuable insights. ”

Proximie has been deployed in more than 500 operating rooms around the world, and tens of thousands of surgical procedures have been recorded to date.

Medical Grade Edge AI Compliance

NVIDIA IGX platform is powered by NVIDIA IGX Orin, a powerful, compact, and energy-efficient AI supercomputer for medical devices. The IGX Orin Developer Kit will be launched early next year.

IGX Using industrial-grade components specially certified for medical care, it enables easier advancement of medical devices from clinical trial stage to actual deployment.

Litai Technology will be the first to create NVIDIA IGX for the medical device industry For more product information, if you want to know more about product information, please contact Litai Technology:
