IT Home October 7th news, at a hardware launch conference held in Brooklyn on Thursday, Google officially released the long-heated Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones, equipped with upgraded Tensor G2 chips.
Interestingly, while emphasizing safety, voice and camera capabilities, the company also briefly demonstrated a health feature on the slideshow - cough and snoring detection. When you sleep, it works in the background, and in the summary section of the daily bedtime, it can display the user's snoring time and the number of coughs during sleep.
IT Home learned that in order to enable the snoring and cough detection functions of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, users need to grant access to the device's microphone. However, detection is performed locally on the device, so the phone will not record any audio or send any data to the Google server.
In Digital Wellbeing application, snoring data reflects the total time the user snores during the set sleep time, in minutes and hours. Similarly, the cough detection shows the total number of times a user coughs during the specified sleep time. Both types of data can be viewed on a timeline, helping the user to accurately indicate when they actually cough and/or snore during sleep.
