IT Home September 9th news, according to foreign media reports, Intel will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for two wafer fabs in a park in Licking County near Columbus, Ohio. The U.S. President and the Ohio Governor will attend the ceremony with Intel CEO.
According to reports, , the brand new manufacturing base, will be able to accommodate up to eight chip manufacturing facilities, and will require approximately US$100 billion in investment in over time.
It is reported that the first two fabs at Intel's Ohio manufacturing base will cost about $20 billion and will be built at the same time, and is expected to go online in 2025 . The new campus, which covers approximately 1,000 acres (4 square kilometers), will be able to accommodate up to eight semiconductor fabs.
Intel did not disclose which production nodes its new fabs will use, and from a timeline, these factories are expected to be able to manufacture chips using Intel's 20A and 18A manufacturing technologies.
