Professor Wang Zhibiao, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Ultrasonic Medical Engineering, Chongqing Medical University, is one of the inventors of "Haifudao".
In the 1980s, Wang Zhibiao had just participated in clinical work. A patient whose disease improved two years after surgery and whose uterus was removed from came to see Professor Wang Zhibiao and expressed his gratitude. However, Wang Zhibiao learned during the greeting that the patient was unable to have children after the uterus was removed due to illness. Wang Zhibiao felt very uncomfortable.

After repeated thinking, Wang Zhibiao decided to take action. Since 1988, he has led his team to study and focus on ultrasound therapy techniques. After 9 years of research, it was the first in the world to break through the key core technologies of ultrasonic ablation surgery (FUAS) in the treatment of tumors in 1997. Two years later, China's first large-scale medical device with completely independent intellectual property rights, "Haifudao Focused Ultrasound Tumor Treatment System" was born and successfully applied to clinical practice. At present, the "Sea Stand Knife" equipment has been exported to nearly 30 countries and regions including the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, and has retained the uterus for tens of thousands of women.
According to Wang Zhibiao, during the research and development process, his team needed to conduct a large number of ex vivo beef liver and live goat experiments to verify, and the experimental materials can be calculated on the order of "tons". The experimenters are sometimes very distressed. After the busy day of experiments, the bloody smell of beef liver lingers on their bodies and lingers. In the "Haifudao" treatment experiment, in order to ensure that the experimental organization is fresh enough, Wang Zhibiao's team conducted the experiment in the middle of the night for half a year, so it was called the "Night Owl Experimental Group". They constantly change the treatment head, change the software, change the tissue, change the tissue staining method. After repeated experiments, I finally achieved the ideal focus.
Review the road of innovation, Wang Zhibiao admitted that focusing ultrasound in biological tissue is a world-class problem. In the 1940s, American scholars first proposed the concept of using high-intensity focused ultrasound to implement non-invasive treatments for in vitro diseases. This tempting idea attracted developed countries such as the United States, Germany, Britain and Japan to explore for more than half a century, but because it was too complex, it was eventually stranded in the research stage. After thousands of experiments, he and his team finally came up with the safest and effective value, turning the dream of focusing ultrasound from the external body's external treatment of diseases into reality.
Focus on the research and development of ultrasonic ablation technology is a breakthrough from "none" to "existence", from 0 to 1. Now, Wang Zhibiao has led the team to the most difficult path, and he firmly believes that the future will be a "broad road".
