6 Jun 25 News A year ago, AMD released the first Radeon Software driver without official Windows 7 support. Starting with version 21.6.1, the latest AMD drivers can only be run on Windows 10 and newer.

Nonetheless, sometimes AMD releases unscheduled updates aimed at fixing specific issues or security vulnerabilities in unsupported products. Today, AMD released the 22.6.1 driver update for Windows 7 systems that have long ceased support.

IT House has learned that AMD Radeon Software 22.6.1 fixes a bug related to Windows 7:

AMD Radeon software may not be installed on some AMD graphics card products, such as Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Additionally, there are two long-standing known issues in driver 22.6.1 that AMD just won't fix:

Enabling Enhanced Sync on certain games and system configurations may result in a black screen, a workaround is to disable it.

Radeon performance metrics and logging features may intermittently report extremely high and incorrect memory frequencies for .

Note that driver 22.6.1 is only available for Windows 7 systems. Users using Windows 10 and Windows 11 can download version 22.5.2.
