A few days ago, researchers from the Yuanjiang Lishui Monitoring Station of the Hunan Aquatic Biological Resources Monitoring Center, which is affiliated with Hunan University of Arts and Sciences, and together with the Dingcheng District Fisheries Administration Brigade of Changde City, monitored fish resources in the waters near the Fourth Bridge of Yuanshui in Dingcheng District and cleaned up illegal fishing nets, they found an injured national second-class protected animal rouge. Rouge has been rare in the Yuanshui waters in recent years. Staff immediately disinfected the wounds of the Rouge. After a period of observation, it was confirmed that it was swimming normally and then released back to the waters.

According to Professor Liu Liangguo of Hunan University of Arts and Sciences, the jumbo fish found this time is huge, with a total length of 86 cm, a weight of 7.2 kg, and a carmine red body. It is an adult jumbo fish that has reached sexual maturity. The ability to monitor such a large jumbo fish in the Yuanshui waters indicates that the "ten-year fishing ban" action in the Yangtze River waters has had a significant effect on the restoration of the diversity of fish in the Yuanshui, and the ecological environment of the waters is also improving day by day.

Rougefish, the local name is "yellow steak, fire bream, smooth sailing", commonly known as "Asian mermaid", belongs to the genus of the carpoid Rougefish family, and is a species unique to the Yangtze River Basin in China. The body of the young fish is gray-brown, but after its sexual maturity, it looks like rouge. The ancestors of the Rouge fish appeared billions of years ago in the Mesozoic era. Today, nearly 80 species of fish from the family Cocospa family have remained in North America, and the cocospaspas in the Yangtze River system have become the "single seedling" in East Asia.
Wild Rouge was first listed in the National List of Second-Classified Animals in 1989 and was once again listed as a national Class II protected wildlife in the newly adjusted " National List of Key Protected Wild Animals in 2021. Like , four major fish, , the rouge fish is a migratory fish that mainly feeds on benthic invertebrates. Rouge is characterized by large size, fast growth and delicious meat. It was once an important economic fish in the Yangtze River Basin. Today, the artificial breeding technology of rochet fish has matured, and a large number of releases are released along the Yangtze River every year to maintain the scale of its natural population.
