India’s polar satellite carrier rocket PSLV-C51 successfully launched Amazonia-1 and 18 sub-passenger satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Center SHAR on February 28, 2021.
PSLV-C51 took off from the first launch pad of SDSC SHAR at 10:24 hours (IST) as planned. After flying for about 17 minutes and 23 seconds, the aircraft launched Amazonia-1 into its intended orbit, and within the following 1 hour and 38 minutes, all 18 passenger satellites were successfully separated from the PSLV in a predetermined order.
Amazonia-1 is an optical earth observation (EO) satellite of National Institute of Space Research ( INPE ). The satellite will further strengthen the existing structure by providing users with remote sensing data to monitor deforestation in the Amazon region and analyze a variety of agriculture in Brazil.
