Li, female, 10 years old, prone to colds, first diagnosed on September 25, 2010. The patient accidentally caught a cold 10 days ago and developed frequent coughing, white phlegm, itchy throat, stuffy nose and runny nose, and poor appetite. He took oral anti-inflammatory and antitussive drugs, but the effect was not good. The
X film was diagnosed as bronchitis , and treatment such as infusion (unknown drug name) in another hospital showed no improvement. When seeing the doctor, he had cough, white phlegm, stuffy nose and runny nose, light red tongue, white and greasy coating, and floating and tight pulse. Examination: Pharyngeal congestion (+), coarse breath sounds in both lungs, and a small amount of medium to fine rales in both lungs. The syndrome is exogenous wind-cold and phlegm-dampness blocking the lungs. The treatment is to dispel wind and cold, clear the lungs and resolve phlegm. prescription: 10g each of almond, Platycodon, Pediculus, Poria, Pinellia ternata, tangerine peel, Perilla leaf (lower back), Cnidium monnieri, magnolia flowers, Agastache rugosa, 3g licorice, and 2 slices of ginger. Later, he was treated with Yupingfeng Powder , and there was no recurrence after six months of follow-up.
4 Experience:
Cough is one of the main symptoms of the respiratory system. Zhang Jingyue, a famous doctor in the Ming Dynasty, pointed out that "all six qi make people cough, wind and cold are the main symptoms", indicating that coughs are mostly caused by wind evil and cold. Wind-cold pathogens come from the skin, and the lungs and defenses are affected by them. If the lungs fail to clear and descend, they will cough; if the wind-cold is affected by the upper part of the lungs and the lung orifices are unfavorable, there will be nasal congestion, runny nose, and itchy throat; Treatment should be to dispel wind and cold, relieve cough and relieve cough.Xingsu Powder comes from the "Tiaodiao Differentiation of Febrile Diseases" written by Wu Jutong. It is a representative prescription for treating cold and dry symptoms. It is especially effective for coughs with wind-cold syndromes or coughs with phlegm and dampness. In clinical practice, the author uses this prescription to modify coughs with wind-cold syndromes or coughs with wind-cold and phlegm-dampness, and achieves good results. In the prescription, Platycodon grandiflorum is used to relieve lung qi, while almonds and phlegm are used to lower qi and resolve phlegm. One of them is released and the other is reduced to restore the function of lung qi. Pinellia tangerine peel and Poria cocos are used to promote qi, expel phlegm and relieve coughs. Perilla leaves and ginger are used to disperse wind and cold, which can treat the cause of cough. They can eliminate evil and normalize lung qi. Pharmacological studies have shown that Platycodon and Platycodon can promote tracheal secretion, dilute sputum, and have an expectorant effect. In addition, Platycodon also has an antitussive effect; almonds can inhibit the respiratory center and have an antitussive effect; Perilla leaves can promote sweat gland secretion, have diaphoretic effects, and have anti-allergic effects. The combined use of various medicines has the effect of dispersing wind and cold externally and resolving phlegm and dampness internally, and can treat both external and internal diseases. In clinical treatment, as long as the cough is caused by wind or cold affecting the lungs. For those who suffer from wind-cold and phlegm-dampness, this prescription will be effective.
