Tong Xiaolin is the only academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in my country. He was born in Jilin in 1956. His mother is a Western doctor, a military doctor who participated in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. He braved the rain of bullets and bullets to save our soldiers on the battlefield, made great contributions and saved countless people. Later, in order to better cure diseases and save people, she taught herself acupuncture. In order to gain clinical experience and make faster progress, she used her own body to test the acupuncture. Under the influence of his mother, Tong Xiaolin was determined to study medicine since childhood. He once wrote an essay about studying medicine: "Be a Bethune-like doctor."
1978, he was admitted to Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine , and was the first batch of college students after resumed the college entrance examination . Here, he met a very awesome professor: he memorized 28 meridians word by word, and he memorized , eight meridians and 14 meridians intact. Tong Xiaolin was stunned on the spot and was completely conquered. From then on, she devoted herself to learning traditional Chinese medicine with the professor. This gentleman is Professor Chen Yufeng, a famous doctor. Under the careful guidance of Mr. Chen, Tong Xiaolin has established a very solid foundation in traditional Chinese medicine theory. Later, Tong Xiaolin studied " Huangdi Neijing " with the first national medical master Professor Li Jiren , and at the same time, he closely combined basic theory with clinical practice, and his medical skills continued to improve.
In the 1980s, an epidemic hemorrhagic fever broke out in northern Jiangsu. At this time, he was following Professor Zhou Zhongying to study for a doctorate. Professor Zhou is an expert in critical illness in my country and has been fighting on the front line of the fight against the hemorrhagic fever epidemic at this time. Tong Xiaolin's doctoral career was basically to fight the epidemic with Professor Zhou. Because of this, he has accumulated a lot of experience in clinical treatment of severe diseases. With the joint efforts of Professor Zhou Zhongying and Tong Xiaolin, the mortality rate of hemorrhagic fever dropped from 10% to 1%.
1991 to 1994, Tong Kobayashi served as visiting professor of at a Japanese university. Due to his theoretical knowledge and rich clinical experience in traditional Chinese medicine, the Japanese side has repeatedly tried to retain him with high salaries. However, with extremely patriotic feelings, he resolutely returned to his country to serve the people. After returning to China, Tong Xiaolin served as the director of the Department of Stroke and Miscellaneous Diseases at the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital. After taking office, the first thing he did was to establish the Department of Diabetes in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was the first time in the country.
At that time, the outside world was not optimistic about traditional Chinese medicine's treatment of diabetes , and believed that traditional Chinese medicine did not have the effect of lowering sugar. Moreover, there are indeed some problems in traditional Chinese medicine using the theory of diabetes to treat diabetes, resulting in less effective treatment. Tong Xiaolin firmly believed that traditional Chinese medicine can definitely treat diabetes, and the traditional treatment theory of "yin deficiency is the basis and dryness and heat are the criteria" is inappropriate.
So he formed a special team to devote himself to studying new traditional Chinese medicine treatments for diabetes. They expanded the sample to 5,000 patients with diabetes. After the study, they found that only 13% of the patients had symptoms of diabetes, while most of them did not.
By repeatedly studying the theory of spleen deficiency in the "Huangdi Neijing", he proposed the use of the theory of "middle and fullness and internal heat" to treat diabetes. He identified the name of the Chinese medicine disease of diabetes as "sugar and collateral disease", and achieved very good anti-glycemic effects. He re-classified, staging and certification in traditional Chinese medicine. He pioneered the "depression and heat-clearing method" to treat diabetes, which achieved very significant results, allowing many diabetics to get rid of the trouble of taking anti-glycemic Western medicine for life, effectively solving the historic problem of "Traditional medicine cannot lower glycemic", and effectively breaking the assertions of some people.
In 2017, Tong Xiaolin took the lead in writing the "International Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Diabetes in Traditional Chinese Medicine", which is the first guide to Diabetes in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which has effectively promoted the international standardization of specialized Chinese medicine diseases. In 2020, Tong Xiaolin was awarded the honorary title of "The Most Beautiful Science and Technology Worker" by the Central Propaganda Department and six other departments.
