The cervical vertebrae of a person is composed of 7 vertebrae. Each vertebrae is connected by an intervertebrae in the front and a small joint behind. In addition, there are many muscles around the vertebrae, especially the back of the neck, connecting them together.
There are four physiological curves in the spine of human beings. Among them, the curvature of thoracic vertebrae and sacral vertebrae are innate, while the curvature of cervical and lumbar vertebrae is gradually formed during our growth process.
cervical spine physiological curvature is mainly maintained by the wedge angle of wide anterior and narrow posterior cervical intervertebral disc and the archstring pulling of the posterior muscle. Therefore, problems with these two static and dynamic factors will lead to a decrease in physiological curvature of the cervical spine, disappearance and even protruding backward (reverse bow). Although young people have some aging discs, they are not yet able to cause clinical symptoms. The more common cause is strain and weakness in the back of the neck.
On clinical medical , according to the symptoms shown by cervical spondylosis and the affected lesions, it is divided into six categories in total:
1. cervical cervical spondylosis
2. nerve root type cervical spondylosis
3. vertebral artery cervical spondylosis
4.Spinal cord type cervical spondylosis
5. Sympathetic cervical spondylosis
6.Mixed type cervical spondylosis (including two or more cervical spondylosis, also collectively referred to as mixed type)
Prevention method
1. Prevention of cervical spondylosis requires maintaining good living habits and choosing appropriate work and study postures. Especially young white-collar workers, car owners and people who have been engaged in copywriting and for a long time should move as much as possible. It is best to stand up and stretch every hour when using the computer, move your neck, fully exercise your neck and back muscles, and keep your neck blood flowing.
2. It is a very effective way to choose a suitable pillow for yourself. The length of the pillow should be 15 cm wider than your shoulder width, and the height should be equal to your fist height after compression. On the surface of the pillow, the part supporting the neck and the back (neck curve) should be cylindrical and have a certain hardness, which should be based on the ability to set off and support the neck curve. The part that supports the back of the head should be 3-5 cm lower than the above part, so that it can not only support the head but also adapt to the height of the neck.
3. Persisting in physical exercise is also a good way to prevent cervical spondylosis.
