What is expiration food?
Expiry food refers to food that is about to reach the shelf life of the food but is still within the shelf life.
The Anti-Food Waste Law stipulates that food operators in supermarkets, shopping malls and other food operators should strengthen daily inspections of the food they operate, and make special marks or centralized displays for sale of foods that are close to their shelf life.

What is the difference between expiration food and normal products?
Shanghai Consumer Protection Committee selected "lemon-flavored tea drink", "orange juice (non-concentrated restoration), "milk cover almond shaqima", "sandwich biscuits", "crawfish-flavored air crackers", "pepper-flavored pot crumbs (spicy flavor), "spicy scallion chicken sauce flavor crisp noodles", " fried sauce flavor mixed noodles (instant noodles), and "curry-flavored ramen" for testing.

Beverage Expiry Foods Vitamin C content is lost
After testing, both beverage Expiry Foods have lost vitamin C content to varying degrees.
orange juice (non-concentrated recovery) expiration products have a 73.6% lower vitamin C content than fresh products;
lemon-flavored tea beverage expiration products have a 36.4% lower vitamin C content than fresh products.

The acid value and peroxide value of the expiration food have changed.
The acid value reflects the content of acidic substances (free fatty acids) in the oil and fat; the peroxide value reflects the content of peroxide in the oil and fat. If the food is placed too long, produced for too long, or stored in bad conditions, the oils and fats in the food will inevitably undergo rancid oxidation, causing an increase in the acid value and peroxide value.
In this comparison, although the acid price and peroxide value of the expiration food have increased somewhat, they still meet the national standard requirements.
Among them, the acid price changes of instant noodles and biscuits are less obvious; while products with higher oil content such as Shaqima and pot crust have greater acid price changes.
Tips
In this way, there are still some differences in quality and fresh food, but it is within an acceptable range. If you care, you should avoid buying expiration foods with relatively high vitamin content. Try to buy products with a relatively recent production date. After buying the food, you should also pay attention to keeping it in a cool and light condition.
