On September 27, it was learned from the National Health Insurance Administration that the national orthopedic spinal consumables centralized procurement bidding conference for the opening of bids with volume by online bid openings. The average price reduction of this centralized procurement product is 84%. Based on the agreed procurement volume, it is estimated that 26 billion yuan of expenses can be saved each year.
It is understood that this centralized procurement is the third batch of high-value medical consumables organized by the state after the centralized procurement of cardiac stents and artificial joint . This procurement covers 5 orthopedic spinal consumables required for cervical spine fixation fusion, thoracolumbar fixation fusion, vertebrae , endoscopic inferior nucleus pulposal removal, and artificial intervertebral disc replacement, forming 14 product system categories. The intended purchase volume in the first year was 1.09 million units, accounting for 90% of the total demand for medical institutions across the country.
Through centralized procurement, the posterior thoracolumbar spine fixation fusion surgery, which accounts for 1/3 of the spinal surgery volume, has dropped from 33,000 yuan per set of consumables to about 4,500 yuan. Among them, the average price per set of some well-known foreign brands has dropped from 60,000 yuan to around 4,800 yuan. The latest technology minimally invasive surgery for the thoracic and lumbar spine has reduced the average price of each set of consumables from nearly 40,000 yuan to about 5,600 yuan. The average price of vertebral shaping surgery consumables used to treat compressive fractures has dropped from 27,000 yuan to about 1,100 yuan.
171 companies participated in this procurement, and 152 companies were expected to be selected, with a winning rate of 89%. The selected companies include both well-known multinational companies and domestically-funded companies. The diversified product supply is conducive to the smooth implementation of centralized procurement results and can fully meet clinical needs.
It is reported that the successful bidding for the procurement of spinal orthopedic consumables will further release the institutional dividends of the procurement reform and reduce the burden on the masses. In the next step, the National Health Insurance Administration will work with relevant departments to guide local governments and selected enterprises to implement the results of the selected products to ensure that patients use selected products after the price reduction in February 2023.
