On this occasion, the 2022 International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Day and the 9th China Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Patients Conference with the theme of "Sustaining Rebirth and Looking to the Future" were grandly held in many places such as Beijing and Wuhan. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), also known as chronic myeloid leukemia, accounts for 15% of adult leukemia [1], and the incidence rate gradually increases with age. Conference shared and summarized the latest treatment progress and standardized medications of CML in China, and released the "Handbook for the Return to Society of Adult Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Patients". At the same time, many cities across the country have carried out free medical consultations, face-to-face and online patient teaching activities to help CML patients return to their normal lives. During the communication process, experts said that although drug-resistant patients account for a small proportion of CML patients, the difficulty of treatment, financial burden and psychological burden of drug-resistant patients are heavier than those of ordinary patients. Therefore, we should give more attention, care and care to patients with drug-resistant CML, and improve the basic supporting facilities for CML patients to return to life and work from multiple aspects. At the same time, the forum emphasized the need to do a good job in popular science and let more people view CML correctly. Helping CML patients return to society is the ultimate "destination" of the entire CML treatment process. All sectors of society need to meet the needs of patients in various aspects such as diagnosis and treatment, physical and mental health, further improve the quality of patients' survival, give patients more tolerance and acceptance, and help patients better integrate into society.
CML treatment has ushered in the latest progress, and standardized medication helps to break through the dilemma of "drug resistance"
tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) is currently the first choice for the treatment of CML. With the widespread application of TKI, the survival period of CML patients is close to that of normal people of the same age. CML has also transformed from hematologic diseases to chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes , but some patients still have drug resistance problems. Mutations in the BCR-ABL kinase region are one of the important mechanisms that lead to drug resistance after TKI treatment. About 10% to 25% of CML patients develop TKI resistance [2], among which T315I is a common mutation, accounting for about 20% of TKI clinical resistance, and are resistant to previous and second-generation TKI drugs [3].
In recent years, the treatment methods and medication regimens of CML have been constantly innovated. Follow-up monitoring and mutation detection of drug-resistant patients can be carried out to achieve long-term standardized management of CML, which has effectively improved the treatment level and effectiveness. With the emergence of the third-generation TKI drug arebatinib, the drug resistance dilemma of CML treatment has been fundamentally broken, and CML patients with T315I mutation have the latest drug choices in clinical treatment.

At the subsequent "CML Drug Value and Social Value" forum, Professor Zhang Yanli of Henan Cancer Hospital , School of Pharmacy, Sun Yat-sen University Professor Xuan Jianwei , Professor Zou Ping of Union Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology , Ms. Fan Xinyue, a social worker and patient representative , had a wonderful discussion on topics such as the burden of CML patients, changes in CML treatment brought by TKI, the clinical value of patient return, economic value and social value. The
forum pointed out that in the stage of standardized chronic disease management, continuing to shine and heat in the return work is the choice of most patients. The return of CML patients to normal life not only means that they themselves have a new life, but also plays an important significance and role in medical research on CML. conference also released the patient story documentary "The Power of Hope II" on the same day, and held an online exhibition of CML patient story. Through photos and videos, CML patients, especially those who were originally untreated, from diagnosis, medical treatment, medication to returning to normal life in society, presenting the efforts and gains of CML patients in the fight against the disease.
