The report shows that as of the end of 2020, the total underground space construction scale in Nanjing reached 71.9 million square meters, and the per capita underground space scale was 7.72 square meters. Many indicators are among the forefront in the country. Among them, as of the end of 2020, the construction scale of underground parking facilities in Nanjing was 45.9225 million square meters, and a total of 1.0884 million underground motor vehicle parking spaces were provided; the construction of underground road facilities showed a steady growth overall, with 46 road tunnels, with a total length of about 55.5 kilometers.

Taking the construction of the central urban area as an example, the total underground space development of Gulou , Xuanwu , Qinhuai , Jianye , Yuhuatai and Qixia six districts is 46.34 million square meters, accounting for 64.5% of the total underground space development in Nanjing.


In the planning and construction of key areas, the total underground space development in Xinjiekou area is 1.4 million square meters, with a development density of about 40%, and a balanced distribution. The underground space utilization form is mainly based on the basement of the building, and the dominant function is mainly underground parking, accounting for 68%; Jiangbei New District core area underground space is about 1.48 million square meters, with the deepest reaching 7 floors and 48 meters underground. The integrated public transportation network above and below will plan 4.8 million square meters of underground space in Jiangbei New City, and 4 subway lines will partially intersect in the underground space; the Nanxin City Daxiaochang Airport area is a key development area for underground space. Currently, it is mainly based on the construction of infrastructure such as rail transit and comprehensive pipeline corridors. There are 5 rail lines planned in the area, 10 transportation stations, and the current pipeline corridor is 17.8km, with a total planning of 21.0km.

The coverage rate of 600m radius of rail stations in the old urban area reaches 75%, and the coverage rate of 800m radius of rail stations in the main urban area reaches 70%. The operating mileage ranks fifth in the country, the network density ranks third in the country, and Nanjing is the first city in the country to open subways in all districts under its jurisdiction.
In terms of underground road facilities construction, Nanjing has also maintained a stable overall growth trend. As of the end of 2020, there were 46 road tunnels in Nanjing, with a total length of about 55.5 kilometers, including cross-river tunnels, cross-river tunnels, cross-river tunnels, etc.

In terms of underground parking (motor vehicle) facilities construction, as of the end of 2020, the construction scale of underground parking facilities in Nanjing was 45.9225 million square meters, and a total of 1.0884 million underground motor vehicle parking spaces were provided.
