A Russian Kh-55 missile was shot down over Kiev on November 17, and was originally intended to carry a nuclear payload. At the same time, a nuclear warhead was installed, and an inspection of missile debris discovered this. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Strategic Communications Centre.
"Simply put - for this strike, the Russians took at least one Kh-55 missile from their 'nuclear arsenal', 'unwrapped' the nuclear warhead, replaced it with a fake bomb, and then fired it at Ukraine. Although we should not rule out that as the situation develops, at least a few such missiles will be seen," the Strategic Communications Center pointed out.
This surprising discovery raises some interesting questions:
The Russian Federation may have run out of Kh-555 modified conventional missiles, and they are using Kh-55 instead. If the nuclear charge is removed, does this mean that the Russian soldiers forgot to put the conventional warhead in their position? Or, if the nuclear warhead is removed, where is it now?
Another possibility is that missiles with fake warheads exist in their current form and are only used as a less expensive bait with the aim of misleading Ukrainian air defense system .
It is reported that on November 17, four missiles and five Shahed drones were destroyed during an air strike alarm over Kiev.
