"Battlefield Model Bureau" - Hekou Yao Autonomous County Grain Bureau
Hekou is located on a border outpost, facing the old streets and valleys in Vietnam across the river. 90% of the grain and oil warehouses and sales points of Hekou County Grain Bureau are on the front line. The first problem to be solved before the war was: rationally allocating grain storage sites to ensure the supply of grain and oil to the troops and residents, and to minimize the losses of grain and oil in the war. The employees of the Grain Bureau worked overtime, their eyes turned red and their shoulders were worn out. With the help of superiors and the support of relevant units, they finally completed the grain and oil transfer task on time. After the troops entered the river estuary one after another, the supply of grain and oil gradually increased. It turned out that the Grain Bureau had a total of 12 points, of which only 9 were responsible for sales. In order to ensure the supply of the troops, they added 6 supply points, and at the same time changed the two points that originally only stored grain and oil to be sold and distributed. Due to the many locations, long front lines and the simple conditions of the newly added temporary points, many difficulties have been added to the transportation of grain and oil and guaranteed supply. They tried their best to borrow 1,100 square meters of grain from the farm auditorium and other houses from January to April, and built 1,200 square meters of warehouses and shed them, and successively received 5.02 million jin of special grains, 120,000 jin of oil from the province and state, and 5.53 million jin of grain and 130,000 jin of oil from the normal transfer. More than 4 million jin were transferred between points, which was more than twice the transportation volume in the previous year. During the transportation process, the majority of employees loaded and unloaded grain and oil by themselves to more than 500,000 kilograms. The comrades living in Hekou did not rest during the Spring Festival and completed the shipping task of 100,000 kilograms of grain, and also processed more than 40,000 kilograms of rice. 80% of the warehouses in the urban area of Hekou County Grain Bureau cannot stack grain because they are not suitable for combat needs. Most of the grain received from other places has to be placed in warehouses or tents at various points, and the grain is very prone to mold. Comrades looked through and looked at it carefully, deal with problems in a timely manner, and never let them down moldy food supply troops or local left-behind residents.
