Jinan Military Region was established in April 1955. In February 2016, Seven Military Regions was adjusted to five major war zones, and the number of Jinan Military Region was revoked. After 51 years, 11 commanders were produced during this period, namely Yang Dezhi (founding general), Wang Xinting (acting commander, founding general), Zeng Siyu (founding lieutenant general), Rao Shoukun (founding lieutenant general), Li Jiulong (general), Zhang Wannian (general), Zhang Taiheng (general), Qian Guoliang (general), Chen Bingde (general), Fan Changlong (general), and Zhao Zongqi (general).
Among the 11 commanders of the Jinan Military Region, the first four were founding generals, and none of these four participated in the second award of the People's Liberation Army in 1988. Among the four
, Yang Dezhi, one of the "Three Yang Kaitai", was founding general. He had the highest military rank and the greatest reputation. He later developed the best. He later served as commander of Wuhan Military Region and Kunming Military Region. The last military post was the Chief of Staff of the People's Liberation Army, a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, and a deputy secretary-general.
Jinan Military Region's first commander Yang Dezhi
Wang Xinting Founding General, Yang Dezhi Military Academy During his study, he acted as commander of Jinan Military Region, and later served as deputy chief of staff of the People's Liberation Army, deputy secretary-general of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, and political commissar of the Academy of Military Sciences. They all belong to the Zhengda Military Region level.
Zeng Siyu and Rao Shoukun were both founding lieutenant generals. Because they canceled their military rank in 1965 and restored their military rank in 1988, they had withdrawn from the army due to their age and other reasons and did not participate in the awarding of ranks. Although they were not qualified to have the rank of general, they were founding lieutenant generals and had a higher value than those of generals in peaceful times.
Jinan Military Region Fifth Commander Li Jiulong
Fifth, sixth and seventh Commanders, Li Jiulong, Zhang Wannian and Zhang Taiheng are all outstanding generals who participated in the revolution in the later period of the War of Resistance Against Japan . After the baptism of the war, they stood out after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Li Jiulong is Major 55, and Zhang Wannian and Zhang Taiheng are Captain 55. All three commanders are legendary. Li Jiulong is famous for his strict military management. Zhang Taiheng served as the commander of Chengdu Military Region in 1990. In 1991, Zhang Taiheng was dismissed due to an aircraft crash. He was re-appointed in 1992 and became the seventh commander of the Jinan Military Region.
The sixth commander of the Jinan Military Region, Zhang Wannian,
Three commanders were awarded lieutenant generals in 1988 and were later promoted to generals respectively. Zhang Wannian achieved the greatest achievements. In 1997, the 15th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee, and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, becoming a leader of the Party and the army. Li Jiulong and Zhang Taiheng both stopped in the Zhengda Military Region and retired from active service.
The ninth commander of Jinan Military Region Chen Bingde
8, ninth, tenth, and eleven commanders, Qian Guoliang, Chen Bingde, Fan Changlong and Zhao Zongqi, were successively awarded the rank of generals, and were the late-stage stars of our army who grew up in peacetime. Qian Guoliang and Zhao Zongqi participated in the rotation battle against Vietnam. Qian Guoliang was the commander of the 27th Army at the time, and Zhao Zongqi was the chief of the reconnaissance department of the 14th Army Command at the time. Both of them performed outstandingly and were generals rising in the counterattack against Vietnam. Qian Guoliang was later transferred to the commander of the Shenyang Military Region. Zhao Zongqi was the last commander of the Jinan Military Region. After the military reform, he served as the first commander of the Western Theater Command. In 2020, he reached the age of serving the military region and retired from active service.
0000 (last) commander of the Jinan Military Region was doing military demonstrations. Chen Bingde was promoted to a member of the Central Military Commission and Minister of the General Equipment Department in 2004. In 2007, he served as a member of the Central Military Commission and Chief of General Staff. Retired from active service in 2012.
Fan Changlong served as commander of the Jinan Military Region and was elected as a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China. It is said that Fan Changlong was ready for retirement that year and was promoted to vice chairman of the Military Commission , which he himself did not expect.
11 commanders of the Jinan Military Region, Yang Dezhi, Zhang Wannian, Chen Bingde and Fan Changlong, entered the work of the Central Military Commission and became leaders of the Military Commission. Among the four, several Zhang Wannian and Fan Changlong had the best development. They served as vice chairman of the Military Commission, actually presided over the work of the Military Commission, and took the highest position of active-duty military personnel.
