In order to leave a precious memorial to the North Korean people, the 136th Regiment gave a "treasure chest" to the resident bet, which contained 100 gifts from 100 soldiers. The 9th Company of the Meritors gave two conifer trees to the North Korean people. The trunk was engraved with the words "Did you say farewell at the Shangganling and remember the victory and thank your friends." Some soldiers also gave their notebooks, pens and cloth shoes that their fiancée gave to them before joining the army and before entering the North Korean People's Army. Some soldiers gave souvenirs to the North Korean people as souvenirs.
On April 14, 1958, the 136th Regiment began to prepare to return to the motherland, and 600 North Koreans held lanterns and torches and sent their troops 10 miles away in the middle of the night.
When the train left Xinyizhou Station and drove through Yalu River Bridge , the officers and soldiers of the 136th Regiment returned to the land of the motherland that had been away for five years. Their hearts were surging, and thousands of words were summed up in one sentence:
"Motherland, my mother! Your children are back!"
