According to the plan, he was supposed to attack in time and cooperate with the battle, but the inexperienced Feng Zengmin insisted. Three days later, I decided to give up.
After falling into the encirclement of the Vietnamese army, he did not choose to break through the encirclement, nor did he send anyone to investigate the specific situation. Instead, he directly led 202 people from the 8th company and chose to surrender. After the war, China and Vietnam reached an agreement on border peace issues and exchanged prisoners. Feng Zengmin, who led the surrender, was naturally sent back to China.
Faced with the trial of military court , Feng Zengmin did not say a word and remained silent throughout the process. He was eventually sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of 10 years. Years later, faced with public doubts and unable to escape anymore, Feng Zengmin responded to the incident. He said that surrender was an act of helplessness.
Feng Zengmin said that the unit he led at that time was a reserve force. Almost all of the company were child soldiers who had never been on the battlefield. Many of them had just grown up. They had never been on the battlefield and had not experienced the baptism of war. Feng Zengmin could not bear to see them. This young life ended, so I chose to surrender to save the lives of these children.
