Canada released the details of the super visa on July 4. Only parents and grandparents who entered the country after July 4 can enjoy the single-entry stay policy for 5 years. Parents and grandparents who previously held super visas need to leave the country before re-entering the country to enjoy this policy. Or those who do not want to leave the country can apply for an extension of stay, and the extension time can be applied for 2 years.
What is a super visa?
super visa is a parent visit type visa prepared for parents of children with Canadian immigration or citizenship status to visit relatives in Canada. A super visa can stay for up to 5 years on a single entry, and the visa itself is valid for up to 10 years. The length of stay after entry is ultimately determined by customs service personnel.
The news that the super visa can stay for 5 years after entry was recently announced by the Immigration Department. On July 4, the Ministry of Immigration made a detailed explanation on the validity of this visa.
Starting from July 4, 2022, the super visa for parents and grandparents will officially implement the extended stay policy. The specific applicable conditions are as follows:
- If your super visa is applied after July 4, 2022, you can stay for 5 years with a single entry;
- If your super visa is applied before July 4, 2022:
- Apply and be approved before July 4th, but enter after July 4th, single entry can stay for 5 years;
- Approved after July 4th , you entered Canada after July 4th, and you can stay for 5 years with a single entry;
For parents and grandparents who are already in Canada and enter Canada before July 4, 2022, the length of stay in Canada and the border customs information when entering Canada The allowed stay time remains unchanged, that is, the original length of stay remains valid. For example, if entry was originally allowed to stay for 2 years, now it is still only allowed to stay for 2 years. However,
- if you want to enjoy the new policy and stay for 5 years, your parents and grandparents need to leave the country and re-enter Canada after July 4th. After inspection by Canadian border customs, you can stay for 5 years after meeting the conditions;
- or apply in Canada To extend your stay, you can apply for a one-time extension of 2 years.
Note: The Canadian Parent Grandparent Super Visa entry requirements require checking medical insurance. The conditions for meeting the entry requirements include maintaining the validity of the insurance. Medical insurance currently only accepts insurance insured by local institutions in Canada.
The Canadian Super Visa is only designed for parents and grandparents of people with Canadian permanent residents or citizenships. Family members or other children cannot be brought with them when applying. The inviter's children need to provide a letter of invitation to visit relatives and meet the family income requirements to sponsor their parents and grandparents (they cannot directly sponsor their spouses and parents, but can only be used as income assistance). They also need to purchase an insurance policy for their parents and grandparents with a minimum amount of 10 travel medical insurance worth 10,000 Canadian dollars, valid for one year.
The Ministry of Immigration has made it clear that in principle, super visas should be applied for overseas, and overseas visas must be issued in accordance with the guidelines of the embassy and consulates. Since the super visa will stay for a long time after entry, applicants need to submit a medical examination report to prove that they meet other entry requirements.
The children of the inviter need to meet the family income requirements, and the family income needs to be calculated based on the number of family members. This table is the minimum income requirement table for parents and grandparents super visa, which is different from the income table for sponsoring parents and grandparents to immigrate. The guarantor needs to provide his or her own tax documents, employment certificate , pay stubs and other documents to prove his income. In addition, documents proving kinship relationships are also essential, and applicants should not ignore the document list requirements.
