Lai Qingde’s intention to participate in Taiwan’s leadership election in 2024 has long been known to everyone. Lai Qingde's previous announcement to run for the chairmanship of the Democratic Progressive Party was also paving the way for the 2024 general election.
Lai Qingde’s road to 2024 can be described as a thorny road. Leaving aside Tsai Ing-wen, the biggest obstacles to Lai Qingde now are the "old Lai" Su Zhenchang and the "Central Standing Committee Member" Huang Chengguo with a gang background. If Lai Qingde wants to successfully run for the 2024 election, he must first clear these two obstacles.
"Lao Lai" Su Zhenchang
Su Zhenchang is a "British" cancer. After the election, Tsai Ing-wen resigned as chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party under pressure. However, Su Zhenchang was comforted by Tsai Ing-wen to stay due to various reasons, and still sits firmly in the position of head of the "Executive Yuan".
However, it is recognized within the DPP and the people of Taiwan that Su Zhenchang controls the personnel appointments of the DPP and has been working for Tsai Ing-wen. He is also responsible for the DPP's disastrous defeat in the "nine-in-one" election and should resign together with Tsai Ing-wen.
As long as Su Zhenchang does not leave, the DPP will still be in the hands of Tsai Ing-wen. In this way, the DPP will never be able to change within the party. The DPP can only follow Tsai Ing-wen in playing the "anti-China and Taiwan" card, watching helplessly as the DPP's base shrinks smaller and smaller.
Huang Chengguo, the "Central Standing Committee Member" of the underworld
The reason why the Democratic Progressive Party authorities suffered a disastrous defeat in the "Nine-in-One" election is that on the one hand, Tsai Ing-wen insisted on "resisting China and protecting Taiwan", which aroused the resentment of the Taiwanese people. On the other hand, Tsai Ing-wen shouted "end black gold ", but tacitly allowed Huang Chengguo, who was born in the underworld, to serve as the "Central Standing Committee".
Huang Chengguo has always been questioned by the outside world about his gangster background, but the DPP didn't care and even let Huang Chengguo elect Chen Shizhong. With the "Central Standing Committee" sitting in the underworld, the DPP's "End Black Money" can only remain a slogan.
One Su Zhenchang and one Huang Chengguo respectively represent the two major shortcomings of the DPP, namely arrogance and collusion with black money. Unless these two problems are eliminated, the DPP will not get better, and it will be difficult for the DPP's image in the hearts of the Taiwanese people to change. As a member of the Democratic Progressive Party, Lai Qingde will naturally be implicated.
But having said that, Tsai Ing-wen has been operating within the DPP for many years. Even if she knows that she is the biggest obstacle to the DPP, how can she be willing to give up the power within her reach to reform and save the DPP? If Lai Qingde wants to clear these two major obstacles, he will inevitably challenge Tsai Ing-wen, which will eventually turn into a war between Lai Qingde and Tsai Ing-wen.
Of course, in the end, whether Lai Qing Desheng or Tsai Ing-wen wins, it will not mean much, because the DPP will be "removed" by the Taiwanese people, which will be a certainty.
