In the selection of excellent radio, television and online audio-visual works in the second half of 2022
short video produced by Yuanyang County Fusion Media Center
"Terrace Ditchers"
was selected as an outstanding online audition work
Introduction to the work
In the "four elements isomorphic" ecological system of forest, village, terraced fields and water system in Hani Terraces, water is the life of the terraces. The ancestors of the Hani people built a criss-crossing irrigation system when they cultivated terraced fields. According to statistics from the "Yuanyang County Chronicle", by the 1980s, there were more than 4,600 ditches in Yuanyang County. The distribution and management of ditches and water resources has become the key to maintaining the normal operation of the terraced ecosystem. Therefore, the Hani people created the "woodcut water distribution" system in their long history and terraced agricultural production practices. "Gougou people" have become an important role in maintaining the terraced water system. Generations of "gougou people" stick to their original aspirations and distribute water resources fairly and equitably. Hani's farming culture continues to this day, with terraced fields, green mountains, and green waters. On the basis of inheriting the wisdom of their ancestors, Hani's descendants have carried forward Hani's farming culture and worked hard to draw up a revitalization map of ecological civilization around rice, fish, ducks, and cultural tourism.
