Wang Wenbin: China has noticed that the US "2022 Nuclear Posture Review Report" strives to exaggerate competition and camp confrontation between major powers, and is full of Cold War thinking , zero and concepts, and uses nuclear weapons as a tool to promote geopolitical goals, which runs contrary to the international expectations of preventing nuclear war and avoiding nuclear arms race.
First, as a country with the largest nuclear arsenal, the United States continues to upgrade its "Trial" nuclear power and selectively promotes the international nuclear arms control agenda to suppress its opponents. The U.S. policy reflects its hegemonic logic of seeking absolute military advantage and will stimulate the nuclear arms race.
Second, the US claims to use nuclear weapons to deal with nuclear and non-nuclear strategic attacks, vigorously develop and seek to deploy tactical nuclear weapons at the forefront. The United States has strengthened the role of nuclear weapons in national security policies and lowered the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons, which has increasingly become the source of the risk of nuclear conflict.
Third, the United States exaggerates the nuclear threat to of specific countries, tailors its nuclear deterrence strategy, advocates the "nuclear sharing" arrangement that violates the " Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons ", and claims to strengthen the extended deterrence with allies in the Asia-Pacific region. This move damages mutual trust between major powers, provokes a nuclear arms race and nuclear confrontation, stimulates nuclear proliferation, and seriously undermines international and regional peace and stability.
I also want to emphasize that in the report, the US side criticized and speculated China's normal modernization of nuclear power, and blatantly tailored its nuclear deterrence strategy against China.
