According to this law, Russian citizens who join foreign armies against the Russian Federation during armed conflicts, hostilities or other operations using weapons and military equipment will be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 12 to 20 years and up to 500,000 ruble (about $8500) fine.

Providing financial, logistical, consulting or other assistance to foreign, international or foreign organizations or their representatives in activities directed against Russian security will also be subject to the same penalty.

Under this legal provision, Russian companies are prohibited from refusing military contracts while such military operations are ongoing.
