A 32-year-old woman was brutally attacked in Monza's famous Villa Royal Park. The attack took place a few minutes into the afternoon when a man attempted to commit rape on Via Lecafriga Avenue, which bisects the vast Brianza Park. The woman's quick reaction prevented the worst-case scenario.
The 32-year-old woman later said that at that time, an almost crazy man picked her up from behind and threw her to the grass. The half-naked man then lifted up her skirt and tore her underwear. It was a moment of pure terror for the woman who began screaming desperately and managed to break free before running away for ten metres.
Fortunately, several runners arrived, and they alerted the rape suspect. The man quickly jumped up and ran away, and soon lost his trace in the garden of the Royal Villa. Passers-by called 112 and gave first aid to the frightened victim, who was transported with a green code to the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, where she received treatment before being discharged with a 15-day prognosis.
"I saw the woman running towards me in a panic," one of the two runners told police as the victim repeatedly shouted "I'm being attacked."
Investigators heard from the woman who was attacked that she entered the park from the side of the Notre-Dame Basilica and was grabbed from behind by her attacker. She then provided the man's physical characteristics: wearing a T-shirt and shorts, young, 20 to 25 years old, with dark complexion. Now the young man is wanted by Brianza police headquarters.
