At around 10:52 pm local time on the 1st, a gunfight broke out in Chicago's Chinatown, and the police rushed to the scene. Two women were accidentally injured by gunfire at the scene. One of them, a 24-year-old woman, was pronounced dead after being sent to the hospital. The other 42-year-old woman was shot in the hand and is currently in stable condition. Preliminary police reports indicate that a 38-year-old armed man exchanged gunfire with another person at the scene. The man has been detained in the hospital, and the other person is still at large.
Residents around Chinatown are currently collecting signatures to ask the city government to close a local bar that has been called a "public nuisance" because illegal incidents have occurred frequently in and around the bar in the past year, including a shooting incident on the night of the 1st. Chicago District 25 Mayor Lawrence Lu will submit a petition from residents on the 5th. Luhanshi said in a statement that he had witnessed multiple shootings in Chicago's Chinatown and that these violent cases were surging.
