This kind of investment is completely comparable to that of European countries. It can be seen that the UAE is urgently undergoing energy transformation. Due to the energy turmoil caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the UAE Minister of Economy even stated that energy security will be given top priority.
According to the latest reports from foreign media 6html on March 26html, the UAE delegation will go to Europe in the near future to discuss cooperation in clean energy and other areas. The two countries can be described as "hit it off". The UAE stated that this visit is for sustainable cooperation between the two countries. But whether it can successfully fill the "hole" in Germany is still unknown.
In March before this, Germany had gone to the United Arab Emirates to sign an agreement on the supply of hydrogen energy in an attempt to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas and ensure the diversification of energy supply. But it seems that the situation is not ideal at present. Germany has reduced the natural gas imports from Russia 22%, but the subsequent replenishment has not kept up. Now it is equivalent to a swimming pool with water in and out at the same time.
The cooperation between the two countries this time may be affected by Russia’s recent actions. Germany may have reached the end of its rope.
It is reported that Germany’s natural gas dilemma has sounded the alarm, and the natural gas emergency plan has been upgraded. Nowadays, natural gas stocks are difficult to support safely through the winter.
Therefore, Germany is trying various ways to discuss cooperation with the United Arab Emirates. It also shamelessly wants to expropriate part of the pipeline of "Beixi 2", change the supplier Russia to other countries, and plans to restart the pipeline behind Russia's back. A two-pronged approach. Countries such as Italy, and the Netherlands have turned their attention to coal and temporarily put aside the banner of environmental protection. In the face of interests, the "face" of European and American countries is clearly exposed.
"Nord Stream 2" emerged because Germany initially felt that "Nord Stream 1" could not meet its own needs, and the pipeline needed to be transited through other countries, which was not safe. So Germany hopes to build a direct pipeline to directly connect Russia and Germany. Germany's abacus is cracking. If Russia really suffers this big loss, it is very likely that it will take corresponding actions.
Germany’s wish to restart “Beixi 2” is very good, but whether it can be realized is still unknown. In this negotiation between the two countries, each has its own plans. The UAE wants to take the opportunity to consolidate its position in the new energy market, and Germany also hopes that it will share the pressure.
Now the whole of Europe is looking for gas. If the natural gas dilemma cannot be resolved, Europe may have to bow to Russia again.
