This is a tragic accident for the Indian military. A few days ago, a car carrying 26 Indian soldiers slid off the road and fell into the Shyok River about 18 meters below the road. So far, 7 Indian soldiers have died and 19 others have been injured. The Indian side claimed that the location of the accident was located in the so-called Ladakh region. This reminded the Indian media of the conflict that broke out during the confrontation between China and India in Ladakh a year ago and linked this incident.
Indian military sources said the accident occurred while the soldiers were moving from a temporary camp in Patalpur to a forward position in the Hanif subdivision under Turtuk area. Since this area is between the Karakoram Mountains and the Himalayas, the roads are very rough.
A senior Indian military officer said that 26 soldiers set off by car from the temporary camp. At about 9 a.m., about 25 kilometers away from the camp, the vehicle slipped off the road and fell into the Shyok River.
Sources said that all passengers in the unfortunate car were injured in the accident, seven of whom died. Some of the injured are in critical condition. After the accident, the army immediately launched a rescue operation.
According to police, the vehicle lost control, slid off the road and fell to a depth of about 15 to 18 meters.
All the injured are receiving treatment at the 403rd Field Hospital of the Indian Army in Pattalpur. But it was clear that the level here could not meet the demand, and a few hours later, the seriously injured had to be airlifted to the Chandi Mandar Command Hospital of the Western Command near Panchkula, Haryana.
Military sources added: All efforts are being made to rescue the victims. It is speculated that the death toll may further increase. Modi said that this was an unfortunate accident and he would do his best to help the family members and the injured.
Analysts believe that the Indian army shouts loud slogans, but its actual advancement efficiency is horribly low. For those soldiers from poor families, it became a disaster. This incident can reflect that India has at least three major problems. First, the construction of road infrastructure is poor, secondly, the operation of the logistics system is poor, and finally, wrong strategies and chaotic command have led to various problems getting worse.
In fact, the requirements for India should not be too high. After all, it takes more than ten years for a country to build a three-kilometer tunnel. It is already impressive to develop into what it is now.
