reported that Luo Yijun, deputy head of the medical response team of the Epidemic Command Center, said that the 9-month-old baby girl has no history of chronic medical treatment. She slept with her parents in the early morning of May 27. She was found to be covered with quilts and did not breathe. She was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment and died. The new crown test was positive and she had been reported for judicial examination. She died because of respiratory failure and infection with the new crown pneumonia. She was classified as a new crown-related death, which is the 17th child death.

According to statistics, as of now, there are 39 severe cases in Taiwan under the age of 12, and 17 of the severe cases have died. The command center announced on the 7th that the cumulative number of confirmed cases of new crown in Taiwan is 2540,871, including 13,246 imported cases and 2527,571 local cases. Since 2020, the cumulative number of new crown deaths in Taiwan has reached 3,214.
