IFA, Acer, which has little presence in the mobile phone industry, released the first Windows 10 mobile phone ahead of Microsoft.
This mobile phone released by Acer is called Jade Primo. It has a very high-end configuration in the Windows Phone camp. Even if it is placed in the Android camp, it does not fall behind:
Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC
5.5 inches, 1920*1080 resolution, Super AMOLED material
rear 21MP camera, front 8MP Megapixel camera
However, although the configuration is high-end, the overall appearance of the phone is not high-end no matter how you look at it. What’s quite distinctive is that both the front earpiece and the back speaker are designed in a round shape. All buttons and openings are concentrated on the right side of the fuselage, followed by the power button, volume button, and two card slots. The 3.5mm audio port is located on the top of the fuselage, and the back is a brushed metal back shell.
As the first publicly unveiled Windows 10 phone, the most attractive thing about Acer’s Jade Primo is its Continuum mode, which is also one of the most powerful features of the Windows 10 mobile operating system. The power of
Continuum is that after Jade Primo is connected to the monitor through the docking station, it can project the mobile phone screen to it. In addition, with a mouse and keyboard, it can be used as a simple desktop computer. The docking station specially customized by Acer for this phone is called Munchkin. It has three USB interfaces, as well as one HDMI and DP interface.
Of course, simply projecting mobile phone content to the display is not worth showing off. Another feature of Windows 10 is that it supports UWAs, which is Universal Windows Apps:
After users download the same UWAs from the Microsoft App Store, they install it on different Platforms, such as PC and mobile phones, the same application has different but consistent user experience on different devices. Not only that, in addition to the different devices that the same application can adapt to, on the same device, this application can also change into different forms based on different interactions.
In this way, after being projected on the big screen, when the phone is running UWAs, the application displays the PC user interface on the monitor instead of a small mobile phone interface, and this switching only requires a slight a little.
Acer highlighted the Continuum mode at IFA and defined its new phone, Jade Primo, running Windows 10 as a Pocket PC. However, GSMArena stated in its hands-on article that this phone is not yet running the final version of Windows 10 Mobile, and some features are not available. But the programs that can run normally are smooth.
In addition to this high-end model, Acer also announced two other entry-level Windows 10 phones, the Liquid M330 and M320. Regarding the price and specific launch date of the mobile phone, Acer did not disclose it at the meeting, and it will probably not be too long.
