After the military reform, what is the status of several military medical universities?

After the founding of New China in 1949, the People's Liberation Army successively focused on establishing four military medical universities (1, 2, 3, 4). What is the current status of these universities?

First Military Medical University. Founded in 1951, it is the Military Medical School of the Northeast Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. In October 1966, the name of the school was changed to "Military Medical College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army". In September 1969, the school moved to Changsha, Hunan Province. In February 1970, the school moved to the Jinan University campus which had been closed at that time in Guangzhou, and was managed by the Guangzhou Military Region. In July 1975, the Central Military Commission decided to change the Military Medical College, which was originally managed by the Guangzhou Military Region, under the leadership of the General Logistics Department. .

In August 2004, in accordance with the orders issued by the State Council and the Central Military Commission, the whole school was transferred to Guangdong Province and renamed Southern Medical University . The school is located in Guangzhou.

Second Military Medical University. Founded in September 1949, it was called the People’s Medical College of the East China Military Region at that time. It was mainly composed of the East China Medical Cadre School, the Medical College of the Ministry of Health of the Third Field Army, some personnel from the former National Defense Medical College of the Kuomintang, and experts and professors recruited from the local area. In October 1950, it was renamed Shanghai Naval Medical University. On July 9, 1951, the Central Military Commission officially named it the Second Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

On June 29, 2017, it was renamed the Chinese People's Liberation Army Naval Medical University. The school is located in Shanghai.

Third Military Medical University. The school was formed in 1954 by the merger of the original Sixth and Seventh Military Medical Universities. The predecessor of the Sixth Military Medical University was the Fourth Field Military Medical School and the former National Chung Cheng Medical College. The predecessor of the Seventh Military Medical University was the Second Field Military Medical University. It was renamed in 1975 It is the Third Military Medical University,

changed its name to the Army Military Medical University in 2017, and retains the name of the Third Military Medical University. The school is located in Chongqing.

Fourth Military Medical University. In 1941, the Eighth Route Army’s Shanxi Northwest Military Region Health School was established; in November 1948, it was stationed in Xi’an, and successively changed its name to the People’s Medical College of the Northwest Military Region and the First Army Medical College of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army; in October 1952, it was named as The Fourth Military Medical University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. The predecessor of the former Fifth Military Medical University was Nanjing National Central University School of Medicine, which was founded in 1935. In 1954, the former Fourth Military Medical University and the former Fifth Military Medical University merged to form the Fourth Military Medical University.

In 2017, due to Chinese military reform , it was transferred to Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force and renamed Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force Military Medical University. The school is located in Xi'an.
