After the founding ceremony, Government Council of the People's Republic of China 2 Minister of Education and Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic Promotion Association Ma Xulun believes that the People's Republic of China has been established, and the "Double Tenth" National Day determined during the Republic of China period should be clearly abolished and will not be used again. Therefore, Ma Xulun drafted a proposal to propose that October 1st is National Day.
On October 9, 1949, Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference The first National Committee held its first meeting in the Qinzheng Hall of Zhongnanhai. The meeting unanimously passed the proposal to "take October 1st as the National Day of the People's Republic of China" and made a resolution "Please ask the government to clearly define October 1st as the National Day of the People's Republic of China to replace the old National Day of October 10th", and sent it to the Central People's Government for adoption and implementation.
On December 2, 1949, the Fourth Session of the Central People's Government passed the "Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China", believing that the proposals proposed by the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference were in line with historical reality and representing the will of the people, and decided to adopt them, and declared: "Since 1950, October 1 of each year, the great day of the founding of the People's Republic of China, is the National Day of the People's Republic of China."
