At 8:00 this morning,
with the firing of the gun at the opening ceremony,
2019 Yangtze River Three Gorges International Marathon officially started!
More than 10,000 contestants from many countries, 28 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions set off at Zhongxian Fountain Square to experience the "Poetic Landscape, Zhongyi State" in a dynamic and passionate event, and to experience the beautiful scenery on both sides of the river in Zhongxian County.
The event has three events: full marathon (42.195 kilometers, 2,000 people), half marathon (21.0975 kilometers, 4,000 people), and mini marathon (5 kilometers, 4,000 people).
The Yangtze Three Gorges International Marathon passes through the intersection of Linjiang Road and Guangzhou West Road (starting point) - Yuxi Second Bridge - Caoxi River Bridge - Wanshu Bridge - Xinwushan - Vehicle U-Turn (Turnback) - Xinwushan - Wanshan Shuqiao Bridge - Shuanghekou - Baiyao Village - Dengjia Village (return) - Wanshuqiao Bridge - Yuxi Second Bridge - Linjiang Road - Binjiang Road - Zhongxian Public Security Bureau - Daqiao Road - Zhongxian Yangtze River Bridge —Chengqian Road—Zhongxi Bridge—Chengqian Road—Longtan (return)—Chengqian Road—Zhongxian Yangtze River Bridge—Daqiao Road—Zhongxian Public Security Bureau—Binjiang Road—Intersection of Linjiang Road and Guangzhou West Road (end point) . This marathon has set a historical record with the largest number of participants since it started in 2017. Currently, more than 10,000 runners from across the country, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Ethiopia and other countries have signed up to participate.
Zhongxian Party Committee Secretary Lai Jiao, Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau Party Committee Member and Deputy Inspector Chen Yulin, Zhongxian County Mayor Jiang Xia, Zhongxian County People’s Congress Party Committee Secretary Chen Qiang, Zhongxian Propaganda Minister Wang Jianqiong, Zhongxian Deputy County Mayor Zhang Shulian, Zhongxian CPPCC Vice Chairman Tang Daiwen and other leaders attended the opening ceremony and blew the whistle for the event.
In order to allow athletes to participate fully, the organizing committee organized more than 20 working groups, nearly 1,000 security personnel, more than 10 ambulances, more than 100 medical staff, 80 medical runners, 60 AEDs, 70 emergency rescue cyclists, 30 emergency response professional rescuers and more than 1,000 volunteers to escort the event.
The half marathon champion will be competed in about 90 minutes, while the full marathon champion will be announced in about 150 minutes.
