When firefighters were reported to the scene, Guo Xinyi had lost all signs of life. He was rushed to the hospital but still died of serious injuries. The police subsequently sealed off the scene.
People familiar with the matter pointed out that Guo Xinyi was shot once in each shoulder, once in the left and right clavicle, once in the right palm, and once in the left abdomen. The court investigation at that time found that Guo Xinyi was far away in Tainan , but he used remote control to help people collect protection fees. He also made NT$2 million while in prison. In 2010, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison for intimidation and other crimes.
